I called a friend and we were to getogether after the reunion at his parents's place for a picnic and chit chat. Mom was upset I was not staying for supper at the reunion. The next morning I slept in and didn't do laundry as I had wanted to do, but the trip had worn me out and the mattress I was on was terrible.
I did get up, and I showered. Then I found out that the reunion started later in the day than I had thought so I called the friend and cancelled His wife is always more upset when I don't show than he.
Anyway, the reunion was okay. Lotsa food. 44 people this year. Two years ago we had 98. Not many of the older members travel anymore and the kids just don't care. A few of my second cousins were there. And all grown up too. B was only a baby when I saw him last, which was at the last BIG reunion ( over 200 people ). It's weird some of my second cousins are as old as I am. Then again my Grandfather was one of 1 kids and he was one of the 3 oldest.
After the reunion I did laundry and got gas. Then after throwing the clothes in the dryer I looked for my laptop XP CD. Which was more difficult than it should have been because my Dad had moved all the stuff out in the kitchen into a box in my old room. Not my place anymore but a little respect while I find places for all my left over things would be nice. I did find a recovery DISK, but it wipes everything. I could have sworn I had a full copy of XP but I couldn't find it.
Sunday we had a Father's CHicken BBQ from the firehall. I left at 1:30 and spent 3.5 hours on the road. Traffic was not as bad heading home as it was heading out. I came back to a very stifling apartment and since the parents's didn't want to part with the AC I had bought, I ventured out to Wal-mart and bought a unit only 7 dollars off my budget 157 bucks. It came with a remote and digital readout. 8000 BTU. If I had a door to my bedroom it'd be ice cold in no time. Regardless it does chill the area down from 91 to 75 in about an hour. I placed a temp door up and had it down to 68 when I came out here. It has an energy saver feature that shuts it off when the preset temp is reached and more importantly varies the fan speed as it gets cooler. It has a timer to shut itself off but I'd prefer one to turn itself on, although I guess setting the temp to like 79 and mode == to energy saver would accomplish the same thing. I need to find some beads or vertical blinds for the doorway to my bedroom.
The Alamo Drafthouse Road show is coming to NJ, showing Clerks. For free. So tempted to go. Kevin Snith will be there, so I imagine it'll be a madhouse. It's at 8:30 on a Friday. Not sure how long it takes to get from NE to Leonardo though.
Google says 2h21m but rush hour traffic could push that to 3 hours. I'll have to think about it.
No word from that one last gal. She's probably super busy. Her loss. How many women have lost out. Gads, millions!
What else? taxes due this month so no real savings from my student loan consolidation. I'm waiting for the school district's budget to be approved and then my rent will probably go up. Yeah sure renters never pay property tax. 3mils is the increase, I think.
And surprise surprise the Property Tax reform may actually go thru. But now they're giving districts the ability to raise income taxes by 25% as well. I thought the fucking slots were to pay for any losses from reducing the property tax???? Goddamn Rendell. The ppl of this State, 'let's elect the corruptest motherfucker we can find. Hey the former head of the DNC looks good.'
Anyway. Off to bed.
