Last night, with the result of the replay between Middlesbrough and Charlton Athletic decided, the sixth round (quarter-final stage) of the F.A. Cup was officially concluded.

This round had a number of thrills and spills, and their impacts upon the HuSi F.A. Cup Competition were critical. Regrettably, no fewer than seven of our HuSi brethren passed from sight during this encounter. Pitiless Ewoks are dancing merrily at their demise.

  • Liverpool beat Birmingham City [7 - 0]

Note

At this stage, it is certain that there will be no reconfigured competition, as it is guaranteed that at least one HuSer-backed team will reach the final. Unfortunately, only one of the teams in the final will be HuSer-backed, so this leaves all inter-Huser competition to be completed at the level of scores, opponents and goal times. After the semi-finals are completed, the post-round update will outline all the permutations for those still competing.

The semi-final line-up reflects both the aforementioned predictability and unpredictability of the F.A. Cup: Two of the "Big Three" at the start of play are still in, and yet nobody predicted either of the other two. As a "neutral", I find the situation thoroughly repugnant, and am hoping for a shock upset from somewhere.

Cracking game last night as well; both teams were right up for it.

It's football, it's possible.

Real shame about Charlton. Missed the match but that's probably just as well.

It's political correctness gone mad!

In theory, I saw it. by yicky yacky (2.00 / 0) #6 Thu Apr 13, 2006 at 05:57:35 AM EST

When the time comes to tally how much football I've been watching, two hours will be logged under my aegis; however, I didn't really see it. I heard "Oooohs" and "Yeasssss!" filter through from various speakers (smutty comments have been foreseen) and subtly dashed back in to catch the odd slow-motion replay but ...

... I didn't really see it. Bugger.

Done.

h

I should have put my spuds on the table with respect to Boro, but I thought I'd get laughed at. Irony etc.
