I think I killed my tree, the only plant I have in the house. It's a corn plant or something, I'm not sure. I've had it about 10 years and it's grown about 2 feet in that time and is not about 8 feet tall. It can withstand lots of neglect and abuse but, apparently, it is not quite limitless in that ability. It's gone a little too long without watering and the top frond got weak and bent. I think it creased, or whatever it's called. I don't think it can recover and will eventually wither and die.

Pinky's a very sweet kitty

Remember this guy? Oooooh, Tsssss. But you know, even his camera work is better.

I upgraded all the "free" things on all my sites on Saturday while it was raining. PHPBB, Coppermine and MediaWiki. I can say without any fear of contradiction that MediaWiki is the most difficult thing I've upgraded in recent memory. Not fun at all. The others went smoothly.

Took a short ride yesterday, about 10 miles to Castle Island and back, to try out my new mustache handlebars.

I like them for the most part. It would be good to raise the stem a bit since these are lower than the drops. Still, they give a nice position to grip for the uphill pulls, like on Broadway.

I bought a slice of pizza for lunch yesterday and immediately burned the entire roof of my mouth.

Toni Basil has nothing to worry about.

Next week is a four-day week. The city is already starting to hang banners and erect scaffolding for the race on Monday.

It's been running through my head all day for some reason.

Take that, Susie Creamcheese.

...but The Walrus.

And here's another clue for you all: the Walrus was Paul.

That bike's got no freewheel!

Looks lovely.

I really have to sort out my saddle-body interface. Not sure how easy that will be.

Love the curved seatstays.

Also, the handlebars are distinguished.

Why the toestraps rather than clipless pedals?

and I need to be able to use regular shoes. I can't be walking around my client's office in cleats.

Ah right. by ambrosen (4.00 / 1) #11 Tue Apr 11, 2006 at 10:54:57 AM EST
I'd not thought that it was possible there were occasions when SPD trainers weren't smart enough.

It's not that so much by ad hoc (2.00 / 0) #12 Tue Apr 11, 2006 at 11:07:24 AM EST
but my client's office is in a nationally registered historical building, and if I were to scratch the floors with metal cleats, I'd be in big trouble. Likewise, if I wore nylon cleats (like SPD-SL or something) I'd be slip-sliding away down the grand staircase.
