Toys

The mailman dropped off a small box stamped "Air Mail" from Wailuku, Hawaii at my office today....

Inside were five shiny new Dr. Tom Kuhn 3-in-1 No-Jive Yo-Yos!!! I had no idea that the yo-yos made in a magical San Francisco yo-yo factory were to be shipped to me from Hawaii, but a quick look on Google Maps made it clear that next time I should go pick them up myself if it's at all possible.

Curse this whole "going to work" thing! I'm not going to get to play with these new toys very much for many long hours yet. Oh, the injustice.

Packed neatly inside the box, along with the five absolutely beautiful new yo-yos, the fine folks at TheYoStore included a pack of 100% cotton #8 yo-yo strings (very nice) and a complimentary 7ml tube of Yomega Brain Lube. I don't think it's of any use on wooden yo-yos, but as soon as I find a convenient way to get at my brain I hope to give it a whirl.

We have everything here.

Where's a Smothers when you need one?

The Smothers brothers were my childhood heroes by erso (4.00 / 2) #5 Tue Mar 21, 2006 at 05:30:25 PM EST
Those guys did everything! They were funny, sang good songs and did the most amazing yo-yo tricks.

Thanks to the wonderful thing that is eBay, I've got a bright red Smothers Brothers yo-yo sitting on my keyboard right now. It's for use on special occasions only.

That's a nice yo-yo by weihan (2.00 / 0) #2 Tue Mar 21, 2006 at 11:32:24 AM EST
I've got one sitting in a box somewhere back in the states. Its even got a nifty laser carved mandala on the side. While the 3-in-1-ness is cool, I like the Roller Woody better for sleeper tricks. But then, I've never used brain lube.

Do I dare ask why you needed to get five of them?

I like to keep extras on hand so that other people can fall prey to the most perfect toy ever invented!

Also, if one cracks badly or falls on the subway tracks, it's important to have a backup.
