Heeeeeere we go!

Updates in comments, posted as possible.

Littlestar's water broke about ten minutes ago, just past 11 PM. Now she's wearing a giant diaper and giggling at the funny feeling of oodles of amniotic continuing to seep out.

No contractions. Fluid is clear and healthy-looking. Baby is frisky.

Midwives have been apprised. I need a glass of wine.

Thanks. by CheeseburgerBrown (4.00 / 1) #2 Wed Feb 22, 2006 at 06:38:27 PM EST
The little scamp is currently facing posterior, which is not ideal, but we'll hoping he works himself right on the way out. If not, it could potentially draw out the labour a bit.

I'm already planning on docking his allowance for causes us to worry.

But I bet you'll forget all about punishing him when he's there and giving his first cry. I bet you'll even laugh the first time he shoots a jet of pee directly onto your shirt while you're changing him.

Ooh, going all dewy eyed now.

I'm feeling kinda partial to the little guy already...and he's little more than a profound swelling and an alarmingly big wet spot.

apart from his punctuality, and obstinately growing too big for his mummy, it sounds like he's someone you may grow to like. Make sure he knows that 2 weeks late isn't good enough, though.

Enjoy the swooning with love and walking around on a cloud for weeks. I hope Popsicle loves him. I'm sure she will.

Littlestar is impressed by the prodigious amount of amniotic fluid that continues to seep from her lovely nethers.

She is wearing my step-father's tartan robe, and thus bears a striking resemblance to a set of bagpipes.

I scored my glass of wine.

No exciting contraction action yet. Maybe we're going to watch a movie or something...

Now she's afraid to stand up lest her diaper prove unworthy of its burden. She's experiencing a touch of what it must be like to be incontinent.

Littlestar's diaper now has a turgid tumour of liquid ballooning out of it, so she's gone upstairs to re-tent.

Mild contractions, irregular.

The midwives say to call them back when the contractions become regular and begin compressing in time.

My finger itches to dial.

Midwives estimate one hour til things get serious. We'll call them when the contractions last around a minute.

Contractions holding steady at 3 minutes apart, slowly gaining in strength.

It builds. LS is unsure how to judge the strength of the contractins, and therefore uncertain when to call the midwives again. We haven't yet gotten into the bath or the pool.

She's waddling laps around the house and pausing to breathe hard as each new contraction sets in.

Sebastian Abraham Davis Hemming has taken the breast, and is suckling contentedly.

I'm dialing Slozo's mobile in China over and over again but I can't get through as of yet.

The birth was much more difficult for Littlestar this time, likely due to the fact that the child is the size of a six-week-old. There was only minor tearing. They're stitching her up now.

I am very sleepy but quite happy.
