In a go-cart race, Cindy was neither first nor last. Rose came in after Cindy. Jean beat Roger. Roger beat Beth. Cindy beat Beth but not Roger.

Either Rose or Beth; but the first clue is redundant and follows from the other facts, so perhaps they should've specified either Rose or Beth not coming last to make the solution unique, the fucktards.

We know that Jean won, Roger came in second and Cin took third. We just don't know whether Beth or Rose came in last (all of this assuming there were no additional unnamed participants).

There are only two sentences that list people's positions in the race:

Cindy was neither first nor last. Rose came in after Cindy.
The rest is about who was abusing who:
Jean beat Roger. Roger beat Beth. Cindy beat Beth but not Roger.
Okay, so Jean beat Roger. Regardless of whether she used her fists, a cricket bat, a truncheon, a sand packed rubber hose, a riding crop or the flat of Rogerborg's sword, we don't know where Jean placed in the race with regards to Roger, but only that she abused him.
There is no more degenerate kind of state than that in which the richest are supposed to be the best.
