and boy is my ass tired.

Someday I can tell my grandkids "I was in Redmond when Vista went RTM!".  Of course, nobody will care.  We were already leaving the event mid-day Friday because every does that, but our MS hosts told us "we have a hard stop at 1pm Friday because we all want to get to the Vista release party..."

It was raining in Houston when I left Sunday, it rained the entire time I was in Redmond except Wednesday, and as soon as I got back to Houston tonight it started raining again.  Gah!

I started coming down with a cold on Tuesday, so this trip was not as enjoyable as it could have been.  We ate well, but I didn't taste it much.  I even got a four-half-pint flight of Pac NW beers at The Taphouse last night, and couldn't taste any of them.  On the other hand, it was very productive from a work standpoint, and the overall experience really could not be easier...non-stop flights (about as long as I ever want to sit between two people in coach, but still...), my cohort handling all the car rental/driving, and our hotel within walking distance of the MS campus (not that we ever walked...rain, rain, rain).

I'm going to miss Showtime 2...all the dumb movies I've caught the last 30 minutes of this week!  11:14, Amy's O, Dirty Deeds...thank goodness for credits and IMDB, or I'd never know what I was watching.

My haul from the MS company store this trip is:

  • Flight Simulator X Deluxe
  • Windows XP Pro SP2 (Full version)
  • 12 month XBox Live! subscription package
  • Halo 2
  • Project Gotham Racing 2
  • Mechassault
I'm going to make some punks suck it down in BF2 and call it night.

I'm gravely disappointed.

these events happen twice a year, maybe next time I'll remember.

Of course, right now I never want to get another plane, unless I'm flying it.
