Time to brush the dust off your lens. If you enjoy taking photos, why not enter the first HuSi PhotoFC?

See inside for the theme...

[Update] The diary for entries has been posted - go there and add a comment with your entry!

The rules are as follows:
  • The deadline for entries will be Tuesday 31st October 2006, at 1500 GMT.
  • Photos must have been taken between today and the deadline - no older photos are allowed.
  • You may use any form of post-processing. If you do so, please post brief details with your photo of what has been done.
  • Only one photo per entrant.
I'll post another diary on Tuesday 24th October. If you would like to enter, please post a comment in that diary containing your entry, and any post-processing details and other comments. Photos should be resized to a maximum height/width of 800px before posting.

After the deadline, a final diary will be posted, with a poll allowing people to vote on their favourite entry. A couple of days later, the final winner will be announced. It could be you!

And the theme this time is: Water. It covers a rather large area of the world's surface as well as being essential for human life, so you should have plenty of source material to work with.

Best of luck; may the best photo win!

I could totally own this contest but I doubt we're going to have any hoarfrost before the end of the month.

Maybe a shot of a hottay in the shower. Would that qualify for the "water" theme? I bet I could place well with a nipple.

If this contest doesn't go too badly, I'll probably run another one next month.

Maybe with a theme of "cold" or something similar, if you're lucky...

In that case we'd allow multiple entries too.

I'll keep my camera with me, if I get a decent shot at any point it'll be entered.

Only one photo per entrant or more?

Only one photo per entrant. I'll update the rules.

If people are really desperate to enter more than once, they can always do so under dupe accounts...

Although this is a subject that needs a decent camera, and Zeiss lens or no, my phone's not going to give its best. Still, maybe I'll GIMP out the really bad bits.

I predict by garlic (2.00 / 0) #11 Thu Oct 12, 2006 at 09:12:09 AM EST
that the person to win will be the one to most creatively break the rules.

Given by stark (2.00 / 0) #12 Thu Oct 12, 2006 at 10:40:46 AM EST
that there are only a few rules, and most of those are based on trust (you can use PS and not tell us, or pick out an older photo and not mention it, or you can submit multiple photos under a dupe account), there's limited potential for actually breaking them.

However, the theme is hopefully pretty wide and tenuous links are allowed, so it should be interesting to see what photos turn up!

I'm currently in Japan on vacation, maybe I will be able to capture something worthy of an entry.

I like the choice of theme, it certainly leaves room for artistic creativity.

Good luck to everybody!

I believe you can recreate it using Diet Coke and Mentos... or perhaps using your shower head?

You've still got this weekend to get a shot in if you're interested in taking part.
