A great band will soon be no more.

As reported here http://pitchforkmedia.com/news/06-01/27.shtml, Grandaddy is calling it quits. No more will we hear about the adventures of a drunken humanoid named Jeb, or Sikh's driving around in a VW bug.

Let us home that the sum of the parts that continue will continue providing music such as written by the whole.

A little part of me just died. by MohammedNiyalSayeed (2.00 / 0) #1 Fri Jan 27, 2006 at 05:07:14 AM EST

Truly an American music icon, they will be missed.

On the plus side, NEW ALBUM! NEW ALBUM! NEW ALBUM!

Also, I'm glad, at least, that I got to see them before they called it quits.

That is one regret, that I have never seen them live. I don't think that will change either, as not many bands play Halifax.

You are missing out by MohammedNiyalSayeed (2.00 / 0) #6 Fri Jan 27, 2006 at 09:19:53 AM EST

If you have a chance, you may even want to consider making a road trip/vacation to see them. But it sounds like they're not playing anywhere at all, so that may not be an option.

The video show they put on is friggin' intense.

I don't really know them by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #2 Fri Jan 27, 2006 at 05:13:00 AM EST
are they the new band that's brother and sister (or husband and wife)? Are they the white gowned weirdos in the VW commercial, or are they depressing Brit rock like that Yellow song?

Neither by ChiefHoser (2.00 / 0) #4 Fri Jan 27, 2006 at 05:43:52 AM EST
