How many guys here solicit blowjobs on the grounds that it's not really sex, babe, it's just foolin' around? And how many guys expect to get blown long before they would ever go downtown on a girl? And do you think this stuff is common in society at large? How about this: how would you feel if your female SO cheated on you by having intercourse exclusively, as opposed to exclusively by blowing her beau? One last one. Do you think that the widely documented phenomenon of teenage girls being expected to service their boyfriends orally (among other things) is in any way related to this?

You can pretend this stuff doesn't happen all you want.

I think guys just solicit blowjobs on the grounds of, well, whatever grounds happen to seem like the most effective at getting blowjobs.  Or am I wrong here?

I don't think many women solicit anonymous head casually. No wonder there's no common term for it.

remember that study that came out by webwench (4.00 / 4) #9 Thu Sep 22, 2005 at 01:22:13 AM EST
a year or two ago, claiming that the ingestion of semen would alleviate depression in women?

Yeah, that was some researcher wanting a blowjob from his wife.

True story.

But it wasn't (oral) ingestion, it was exposure through the vagina (SFW, honest!). Not exactly compelling science, but an interesting theory.

This is a not a new trend by lm (4.00 / 2) #3 Wed Sep 21, 2005 at 08:54:41 PM EST
Back in the big bad eighties I used to laugh at all the white bread chicks who considered themselves to be virgins even if they did ``everything but.'' A commonly heard line was ``I'm saving myself for the guy I'm going to marry, but <insert act here> doesn't count.'' I knew some guys that kept this same attitude, but for the most part the guys didn't really care about whether or not they were virgins, except for when in earshot of their girlfriends.

This is pretty wide spread behavior. A few recently published studies lay it all out. Over half of teens have performed oral sexual favors. Teens that take virginity pledges are very likely to perform anal or oral sex acts because they ``don't count.'' One interesting trend is the significant increase of teen girls willing to try lesbian acts.

I've never solicited a blow job, but that hasn't ever inhibited me from getting one when I was a teen. I will say that more than one girl I dated in high school was rather put off by the idea of me going down on her.

Personally, I think the biggest factor is the legalistic outlook of the US as a whole.

I was about to say that I've never solicited a bj by edward (4.00 / 3) #4 Wed Sep 21, 2005 at 09:11:17 PM EST
but then I remembered this time about three years ago. I was dating a woman (diarised on k5 at the time, as a matter of fact) and she wanted me to walk her back to her place (about a half-hour walk) in the freezing Ontario winter just because. She had been getting on my nerves the whole evening and I really didn't want to walk her home and then walk back by myself. So I told her that I would walk her home in return for a blow job. Needless to say, that didn't go over well.

In the end, I didn't walk her home, and I didn't get the blow job.

What did happen, though, was that about an hour after she left in a huff I got an ICQ from another female friend (one who I really liked and would have rather been with, and oddly enough she liked me and would have dated me if I'd not been such an idiot, but the reality is that I am an idiot) and this other friend wanted to just go for a walk and shoot the shit. So in the end I did just that. Just walked around with this other woman after not walking my own girlfriend home.

And to top it all off, I felt like it was no big deal. So when my SO asked me the next day what I did after she left, I told her that I went for a walk with this other woman. Well as you can imagine, all hell broke loose.

Anyway, I could write a book on what happened to me three years ago this month, but I won't.

That was really the only time I'd ever solicited a blow job per se that I can remember. All the other times I've ever gotten a blow job, it was out of the goodness of the woman's heart.

I wouldn't ever ask a woman for a blow job on the grounds that it's not really sex or for any other reason. If I had a SO that I was sleeping with regularly and I wanted a blow job in the context of an actual session of sex and foreplay, then I might politely ask if that was something she were comfortable with. But otherwise I never have and never will just ask for something like that.

Also, I would have no problems going down on a woman regardless of whether she would give me a blow job, but then I get pleasure out of giving femme head so it's a good thing.

To conclude, I don't know that I would continue with a woman in a serious way if she had cheated on me, whether it be by blow job or intercourse. Drunken make-out session might be something I could tolerate but in the end with the trust broken I'd probably end up breaking up with the person somewhere down the road if not immediately.

I cannot say to the teenage phenomenon of which you speak, however if I were a teenager again you can be sure that I would undertake my own detailed study of this behaviour.

The CDC just released a study last week that showed teen oral sex is not as biased as previously thought.

According to the CDC survey, 28 percent of males age 15-17 reported giving oral sex to a female and 40 percent reported receiving oral sex from a female. Among females aged 15-17, 30 percent report giving oral sex to a male, and 38 percent report receiving oral sex from a male.

ZOMG, such disparity!

WTF? by dmg (4.00 / 4) #6 Wed Sep 21, 2005 at 11:04:40 PM EST
Blowjobs are mandatory, any girl that has an issue with that can go f*** herself. This is a non-negotiable issue in 2005...

call me a sexist if you want, I'm just calling it as I see it. And by blowjob, I mean skilled blowjob. None of that inexperienced BS...

Also, guys, if you have to ask you are on the wrong track, trust me...

Was that they'd rather get knocked up than chow down.  It certainly wasn't something that was done casually, but maybe I just wasn't manipulative persuasive enough.
