Work
Just managed to impress my boss with a demo of a new featurette. Everything practically worked first time, even the stuff I'd not tested. Quite astonishing.

A guy who sits two seats down from me was fired yesterday. Nobody knows why, which is worrying.

Life
Been ill. It's annoying. Felt really bad on Wednesday but have been progressively improving since then. It's only a cold but one of the variety that really saps your energy.

One of the things that is worrying me is the complete lack of compassion that my gf seems to have. I'm trying to figure out if it's a general case (worrying) or if it's purely related to men being ill (understandable, if irritating). Am I a bad person for wanting someone to act as if they are sorry that I'm ill (eg. 'sorry to hear that', 'that sucks', 'awww', etc...) - or am I just a big wuss to want that? I fear I am indeed a big wuss...

Mrs U has very little compassion for my colds either. Even the flu. She calls me a whiner. She's right, but she will at least fetch me medicine when I'm covered with blankets on the couch with a fever of 98.7.

Previous rented properties have had dishwashers. They are possibly the best device ever invented by man, especially in shared flats.

My current residence lacks one, but my gf generally does the washing up. I would really like one because it would free up some of her time, and on the odd occasion when I have to wash up I really hate it.

Plus it gets the glasses cleaner than you can with Fairy liquid (at least if you don't scald your hands with near-boiling temperature water).

Dishwashers really fuck your glasses up (scratch them to buggery). They do get the tea stains off your mugs really well though.

But they would look cool on the camera, and make it appear that I know what I'm doing.
Anyone saying that you can achieve the same effects in Photoshop is just trying to spoil my fun...
Ooh, actually, I need to get a flash gun as well. Something to add to the list!

Hum... never used any of those. I usually just fixed the exposure with dodge and burn in the darkroom... but I guess pretty much nobody actually uses darkrooms anymore.

Oh, I've also used yellow filters and orange filters. Highly recommended for black and white. Yellow filter will bring down a blue sky by 2 or 3 stops, and it makes the sky very dramatic. Orange does the same thing, only slightly different. Get some of these before sinking your cash into the graduated filters. IMHO.

Although I've only been in a glider once, hardly ever get to play pinball (Attention Stena Line, please ensure that your machine in the departure lounge at Holyhead is working next time I'm off on the ferry), have only a broken camera, have just bought a £40 USB freeview box, like dishwashers and am hungry.
