Since I'm setting up two more computers for my house, I have little to do but write...

Herewithin I catch up, rant about my job, my field and the Eastside.

Since the last time...
Since the last time we met, I've

a) Moved into a really, really nice stuido apartment with a really, really nice view.  While I hate to, I'm probably gonna have to move.  Turns out 550 square feet of living space just ain't enough for 2 people and a cat.  Sadly, I dont think I'll ever score a place as good as this one :-(

b) Graduated with a BS in Technical Communication (this diary is no indication of my true writing skill...).  Did that last summer.

c) Worked for the University of Washington over the summer, got a job in Bellevue, decided IT and programming blows massive giant chunks of shit.  In a month I'm probably gonna wind up doing some real-mans work at the Seattle Central Community College either on HVAC equipment or installing electric door locks.  Massive paycut; about half of what I make, but really fuck IT in the ass.  Come six months, I'll probably either start my own company with a colleage of mine (in the process) or pray like hell I'll get a job in my field; usability.

d) Did I mention programming and most computer/IT work sucks ass?  Sorry, if it wasn't abundantly clear - it does.  It will be a cold day in hell that I ever do anything besides usability work again.

e) Further, the eastside (Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Issaquah, North Bend) are full of scary, selfish assholes.  I am fully convinced most of the businesses ran on the eastside are employeed and ran by shady, rich, white, used-car salesmen.  In my observation most are obsessed with money and themselves.  If I can help it, this job will be the last I ever do business with an Eastside company (haha, yeah right, says the guy running Microsoft Windows and who shops at Costco.)

It was an unholy union of text and pulped wood that the Ancients used to distribute their blogs.

It has been my experience that by Double A (2.00 / 0) #2 Sat Jul 09, 2005 at 08:01:42 PM EST
most of America is filled with people "obsessed with money and themselves."

Hell, sometimes I'm one of them, but about money only to pay off the the damn credit cards...seriously. Well it'd be nice to afford a trip to Europe every now and then...but enough about that.

I keep thinking that if I buy my parent's house I'll be better off in the long run and will eventually have the power company paying me. That's not going to happen, I may be an engineer, but I can't pull coal out of my booty.

Side note, my mom's a shrewd business woman. I told her that I wanted to buy my parent's house and she said "Well, I don't think the price your Dad quoted was enough."
So I said, "I thought he agreed with the price I was thinking, $250,00."
"No," She said, "he said "$200,000; you know the house is worth at least $275,000."

"Jesus, Mom, I didn't know what the house was worth, I was just guessing."

"Well, I just wanted you to know what they've been asking for money for less house around this area."

And I wonder why my brother says he's gonna stay in San Francisco.

Sadly, I'm about to embark on finding a jorb in the greater Seattle area in the IT field.  Whee!

(I moved to Seattle since we last emailed, in the U-district)

Sure, you've got the facts on your side -- but that's just your opinion.

...as I'm sure you've found.  Clearly, the rest of the world are just toothless hillbilies...

I rated you a 4, and then wondered where the hell your comment went.  After some digging, it seems that I have my comment prefs to "hide after delete" and you used that trick to make your ratings backward so I zeroed you by accident.

gah!  :-)
