We have a new puppy named Oscar. He's sleeping on my lap at the moment, and I don't want to disturb him, so I might as well write this.

I've also had my new digital camera for a couple of weeks now (a Nikon F50). A happy coincidence, is it not?

This is Oscar

Oscar is a Maltalier Pomeranian cross, where a Maltalier is a Maltese/King Charles Cavalier Spaniel cross. He's currently trying to chew on my arm, but his little mouth is so small he's struggling.

We got him on Saturday. It's been interesting so far. He likes chewing on things (especially fingers, shoelaces, and one of our cane chairs). He doesn't like being locked in the bathroom at night... in a week or so he'll start sleeping outside in his luxury kennel, but for now he can put up with the bathroom.

Oscar starts puppy pre-school on Wednesday.

Digital camera

I must have had it about a month now, and it's going nicely. My 512M memory card arrived about two weeks after the camera (that was a frustrating time) and early last week I received my free 70-300mm zoom lens. Observe the excessive zoomage:

And check out the full res copy of the rose...

Australia vs Uruguay

It's old news by now, but my last trip to Sydney coincided with the World Cup Qualifier between Australia and Uruguay. So I got a ticket on ebay (difficult when we don't have ebay access from work) and went along.

The game was fantastic, the atmosphere was electric, and I'm really glad I went. The A-reserve ticket cost $220 ($25 more than face value) but it was a good investment I think.

Airshow

We went to the Defence Air Show at RAAF Pearce. It was a reasonable day out until it was time to leave. The morons in charge of traffic did such an horendoes job that it took an hour and a half to get out of the car park. And they were completely clueless as to what was happening... perhaps more than two staff would have been a good idea.

So we won't be going there again. Our good day was ruined.

New PC

I have all the parts except for the motherboard, which is on its way from the slow people at aussiepcshop.com. Disturbing clicking noises will shortly be a thing of the past! It's an Athlon64 3200, 1G RAM, 200G SATA. Not too shabby.

MMmmmmm, nikon goodness by joh3n (4.00 / 1) #2 Mon Dec 05, 2005 at 02:35:33 AM EST
I just unpacked my D50 too.  Looks impressive so far.  I'm a bit miffed that there's no electronic cable release port, but I think there's a RF remote thingy or something.  Nevertheless, all my blabbing detracts from the obvious statement of PUPPY PUPPY PUPPY.

Indeed, they're all remote control now it seems. Luckily you can get one on ebay for about A$20 delivered.

Awwwwwwwww, Oscar! by MohammedNiyalSayeed (4.00 / 1) #3 Mon Dec 05, 2005 at 03:12:28 AM EST

I particularly like the two with the giant stuffed yellow dog which dwarfs him.

You can build the most elegant fountain in the world, but eventually a winged rat will be using it as a drinking bowl.

That just seems like way too many cute breeds crossed together. Watch out for cuteness overload.

Maybe not quite yet... by sven (2.00 / 0) #7 Mon Dec 05, 2005 at 01:43:20 PM EST
The bank account needs a little longer to recover following the new camera, new computer, new patio and new puppy!

But f1.4... imagine!
