Though I can't help but wonder how many dyslexics had a major influence on modern language .

You wanna know exactly how pathetic I am? by ObviousTroll (2.00 / 0) #4 Fri Dec 16, 2005 at 04:31:38 AM EST
One of my favorite parts of reading teh entire encyclopedia set my mom bought for me was how each volume began with an article on how that letter of the alphabet evolved through the centuries.

Ah, sitting on the living room floor, checking out the anatomy diagrams (with transparent overlays!) - good times, good times.

Was that World Book? by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #5 Fri Dec 16, 2005 at 06:18:52 AM EST
My parents had them, so I know they did that stuff, I don't know if other encyclodedias do.

One of the benefits of having my mom work at the library was getting a complete set of World Books when they were clearing them out for $5, for the kids.

... Not quite sure. by ObviousTroll (2.00 / 0) #6 Fri Dec 16, 2005 at 06:30:06 AM EST
She actually bought two sets - the bigger was the "Encyclopedia Americana" which had much more detailed info and the aforementioned see-thru pages of girly-innards.

The ones with the alphabet stuff definitely had a title like "World Book" but I think it was longer; they were white with a blue-and-silver embossed tree on the cover. Hrm... a quick google seems to agree with you: the description of World Book sounds like I remember.

The drinking game list contains neither Mexicali nor Thumper and thus is evidence that Wikipedia is worthless.
