I almost got wet coming home yesterday. My car leaks. :(

So this morning the car smelt funny, and this afternoon an old bastard decided to try to run me off the road, then I had to detour to avoid nasty traffic caused by a road closure.

And today was a relatively good day on the roads.

I really don't like driving.

Click of death

My harddrive has been clicking again this evening. With every click my new computer comes closer to reality. Bring it on!

Home brew

... is going very nicely indeed. I currently have five brews that are drinkable or near enough.

  • Newcastle Brown
  • Caffrey's
  • James Squires Porter
  • Little Creatures Pale Ale
  • Hoegaarden (almost ready)
The Hoegaarden was thanks to my manager at work who decided to bankroll an experimental brew in exchange for half the batch. I think it's worked out pretty well, but when I last tasted (a week and a half ago) it still needed a bit longer to mature.

Internet

It would be nice if my internet connection wasn't going up and down like a yo-yo. Now it is up again.

Speaking of which, I had to download a reasonably large (17M) file at work yesterday. At home it would take 2 minutes. At work it took 21 minutes to download to the proxy server, a couple of minutes for the automated scan, then another 5 or so to download from the server.

It hurts me that my $50/month ADSL is 15 times faster than what we use at work.

Internet is now down again.

Fricking Rain by creo (4.00 / 1) #1 Tue Nov 08, 2005 at 04:03:44 AM EST
I look forward to coming home from the frozen North and what do I get?

Rain and cold - in bloody November.

Winge/mutter/moan/grumble.

Oh, and driving does suck - after having spent the last 6 months just using shanks pony and brill public transport, driving on WA roads with all the other obnoxious asshats was a real shock to the system.

Cheers
Creo.

Damn those asshats.

I agree with you about the rain to some extent. I don't like driving in it because everyone slows down and as noted my car is not a wet weather car. But not having to pour loads of water on the garden is nice as well.

Sunny days and rainy nights would do me just fine.

Yes I agree by creo (2.00 / 0) #5 Tue Nov 08, 2005 at 07:07:03 PM EST
with your sentiments on the rain thing - our garden and the paddock/bush is looking as green as I can remember for this time of year. Although this is the first Novemeber I have been home for for quite a few years.

Sunny days as eveidenced by now [looks out window] with some rain in the evening is perfect, I'm sure its going to heat up enough over the oncoming months...

Cheers
Creo.

I must start brewing again by georgeha (4.00 / 1) #2 Tue Nov 08, 2005 at 04:04:18 AM EST
my last batch of a pale ale turned out to be a mettalic, tangy tasting nightmare, virtually undrinkable. It's time for lager anyhow.

What went wrong? by sven (2.00 / 0) #3 Tue Nov 08, 2005 at 06:34:57 PM EST
How did your pale ale go wrong? I've just been going with the kits from Westbrew and haven't had any problems at all.

Not sure, I tend to use dried malt or canned by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #6 Wed Nov 09, 2005 at 01:34:18 AM EST
with loose hops, per Papazian's recipes. I did keep it under fermentation for a long time, perhaps too long.
