Cubase LE you are the most evil piece of software, ever.

The help is rubbish, the terminology unexplained.

Yet still, unencumbered with any ability to shift the different tracks so they're actually aligned, I TRIUMPH!. (Apologies for the non W32 people out there; I have 19 mp3 exports left on this supposed "full" copy of Cubase LE and their website does not seem keen to take my 10 Euro for the unlimited mp3 export patch, as yet).

I would really like to get that sorted (ie all the instruments in time with each other), but that is another task for another day.

M4d pR0pz to gazbo for the right marker-left marker tip.

Right, off to the pub.

The older versions of Cubase are really rubbish.
But when they switched to the SX/SE Editions, it really got much better!

since then, i'm a happy man...
give it a try!

I love those open string/scale riffs...

It really sucks about the mp3 exports, I'm hoping my version wont be similarly nobbled! I don't remember any message coming up when I exported a test... but it probably is the same.

Not only sounds awesome and very heavy, it's used in a lot of different genres. The technique of anchoring your riff with one steady tempo, repeated, low note mixed into the rest of the riff adds thickness to a guitar part by adding what is almost its own bassline. I love it. I do it a lot. Played higher up on the neck it's great.

The guitar in that wav file sounds awesome.

If you  remember a band called Death Angel(?) they had one really cool song that started with an ultra fast lick like this! I don't remember the song but the riff I still use as one of my speed practice exercises!

That scale on the E string is indeed put to use on the high E - Gary Moore, Scorpions and I believe Maiden have made use of it in the past...

EAC along with a freely available copy of LAME will allow you to edit WAVs and make all the mp3s you want.

And ummm, yeah, what you said by greyrat (4.00 / 1) #4 Sat Nov 05, 2005 at 12:45:17 PM EST
and work on the sound levels too. But hey, it's way better than I'm doing right now...

I don't have any export to MP3 functionality - I export to a full-fat WAV and then use CDex to convert to MP3.

Why are you having trouble aligning the tracks?  Do you just need to turn snapping off to give you free movement in the sequencer panel?

Rock on good sir by Bob Abooey (2.00 / 0) #14 Mon Nov 07, 2005 at 04:42:56 AM EST
It's recorded a just a little low but much better than your past recordings, which were barely audible. You're on the right path! And of course the playing is smokin, as always, you're still HuSi's chop-meister!

Warmest regards,

Thank you kind Sir.  I actually hate listening to it to be honest because all I hear is the utter out-of-time-ness on it.

More work required I think.

Will the SABP be releasing any work soon do you think?

There's always more work required.. by Bob Abooey (2.00 / 0) #16 Tue Nov 08, 2005 at 03:54:35 AM EST
Sometimes I hate listening to my crap cause all I hear is what needs improved too, but that's the best way to really be honest about where I need to focus, so it's good to do.

Actually I have a neat idea I've been working on, but it's kinda stalled right now.

Warmest regards,

They were in the studio last night, according to sources close to the band, but they seem to be having problems putting together a complete musical piece, for whatever reason.  In fact rumour has it that one of the members has been speding time learning lynyrd skynyrd tunes, for crimeny sakes, so I don't know what's going on there.

Warmest regards,

Doesn't matter what you're playing, as long as you're playing.
