Yesterday being a US holiday, with everyone home, the religious types were out in force knocking on doors trying to drum up converts....

So I open the door and there is a fine, albeit young, (I would say 17) Christian woman talking up Jeebus...she was dressed conservatively (of course) but I think she would have done better bringing me into the flock wearing a tight fitting t-shirt that said Jail-bait for Jesus

Is Columbus worshipped in other parts of the world?  Or is this an American thing?

Those of us employed by companies that aren't pro-genocide had to work.

Columbus Day is a floated holiday for us by thenick (2.00 / 0) #3 Tue Oct 11, 2005 at 10:05:04 AM EST
Does that mean we're indifferent about genocide?

He's not worshipped here by Bob Abooey (2.00 / 0) #4 Tue Oct 11, 2005 at 10:21:45 AM EST
Not since the truth came out that he didn't discover Americia.

That doesn't mean that the state and federal workers won't use him as an excuse to take the day off though. Sort like Christmas, you don't have to believe that Jesus discovered Americia to take that day off too.

Warmest regards,
--Your best pal Bob

I like the sound of that.

So, I was in Australia over Easter and I was intrigued to notice that they celebrate the death and ressurection of Jesus in exactly the same way we do - by telling their kids that a giant rabbit left chocolate eggs in the night. Since we're just making shit up, why not go the whole hog and tell them that goldfish left Lincoln Logs in the sock drawer.

depending on how her parents react....it ranges from nothing at all to a felony rape charge that carries many years in prison and brands you a rapist and child molester the rest of your life
