I thought I heard your words
Tell me how do I feel
Tell me now how do I feel

Apparently, it's Blue Monday

Oh well, payday tomorrow.

For Small Boy's party on Saturday, we went to a nearby leisure centre where they provide a couple of trampolines and a bouncy castle. Easier than having the little bastards in the house. It went quite well. Helped SB cook some small cakes (by which I mean he did a little bit of stirring and icing). Hadn't done sponge cake stuff for years but came out nice and light.

Party was chaos as expected. No legal action as yet.

Afterwards, met up with some of the "old guard" - many of whom I hadn't seen in years. Beers, curry, stuff. If you get mashed most days, then the hangover doesn't really register. If you hardly ever get mashed, then it's a real bastard. Acheived pretty much fuck all yesterday.

This coming weekend, Stepdaughter is having a party. Here and some mates are going to some show, then having a sleepover at our house. Bravely, I have to decided to take SB and decamp to my parents house for the night. A house full of 12 year old girls isn't really my thing.

Heard Howard on the radio this morning on the subject of immigration. Something about "rivers of blood". At a time of plummeting asylumn claims, this is not a cynical appeal to the Daily Mail vote.

I almost put all of my text into the Intro Copy.

I think all the parties are colluding in this as with the accession of the 'new' EU countries, we've got plenty of cheap labour from Eastern Europe so don't need the assylum seekers for exploitation bottom end jobs.

I know what you mean. Ireland were actually quite up front about it - when the extra countries joined the EU, they limited immigration from everywhere else.

Apparently a lot of immigration is from places like Australia, New Zealand etc. Since it's hard enough to get decent bar staff around here, limiting this would be a bad thing.

This is code for a white only immigration policy. Notice that there's no mention of restricting the new EU members nor white commonwealth immigration. Assylum seekers tend to be from the Middle East, Asia or Africa.

Also on Today this morning, another feature about Iraqi Christians - who are seeking asylumn because life under FreeDemocracy is, apparently, not all that safe.

Can't wait for the stabilty the neo-cons are going to bring to Iran. Lucky bastards are going to be liberated by the yanks very soon.

Don't use globals.

I know they work on your platform.  They do not work on mine.

Do not use globals.

They does not work.  On my platform.

Yes, that includes statics.

On my platform, these do. Not. Work.

Yes. That. Includes. Statics.

Idiots.

Surely they work ok?

Statics, you say? Let me check? by Rogerborg (2.00 / 0) #22 Mon Jan 24, 2005 at 12:18:06 AM EST
No, apparently, statics do not work on my platform.  Who'd have thought!

Don't think of them as globals. Think of them as fluffy variables who patiently waited to be put on the stack of some function or other but missed out. It's sad really, they deserve more than being called names just because they currently have no employment on your system.

Blue monday by TPD (2.00 / 0) #20 Mon Jan 24, 2005 at 12:08:58 AM EST
Actually I'm feeling a whole of a lot better then the last couple of weeks when I was in a real grumpy mid winter slump. I think sunny blue skies (even if it is freezing as fuck), and a boss away for the week have lifted my spirits.... Yay!
