Well in case anyone missed it, there's a link to my magazine appearance inside :)

Also, a thorough recommendation for Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure.

So anyway, the magazine came out, as gazbo posted in his diary. The main article is here and the  front page is here. My thoughts? Well, it's not as bad as it could've been, lol. The picture isn't too bad despite the vile top they made me wear - although little pest is deeply unhappy with the fringe they gave her and Jo is with the clothes she had to wear. And the article itself is not quite what we said, but close enough. There was much hilarity among people that know me about the miscomment attributed to Jo saying I was a "go-getter" though, hehe.

I've not really done an awful lot this month, I'm pretty much completely broke until next week which sucks arse. It's my mate's stag party on Friday night which I currently can't afford, so I've got to try and rustle up some money for that from somewhere. Not my girlfriend either, I already owe her enough that she's told me I can't borrow any more ;)

Saw Dave Gorman's Googlewhack Adventure on Monday. Absolutely brilliant, one of the best stand-up sets I've seen. Seeing as it's a story about his adventure I won't go into details, but it's all about what happened after someone emailed him to tell him his site was a Googlewhack. I can't recommend it enough, most people here will love it I'm sure :)

And there we go by spiralx (2.00 / 0) #1 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 06:56:10 AM EST
I just found a Googlewhack myself - adiabatically fascistic. Now I should get on with some work...

Read it. by Evil Cloaked User (4.00 / 1) #2 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 07:03:16 AM EST
Liked it.

I'd already read "Are you Dave Gorman?" MDB saw that it was based on a drunken bet made in the small hours between best friends and decided that she should buy it for me.

Heard of that by spiralx (2.00 / 0) #3 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 07:23:45 AM EST
Will probably read both books at some point in the future.

My ex is my best friend by nebbish (4.00 / 1) #4 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 07:24:33 AM EST
Causes a few problems to be honest, but that's due to others being immature about it.

I wouldn't live with her though, she'd do my head in.

It's political correctness gone mad!

Living together by spiralx (4.00 / 1) #7 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 07:37:44 AM EST
We've managed it fine for eight years now, it's going to be weird not living with her...

DG's Googlewhack. by ambrosen (4.00 / 1) #5 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 07:32:55 AM EST
Not seen it or read the book, but was irritatingly reminded of a review of it I read, which concluded that a useful Googlewhack was "Dave Gorman unfunny", although that conveys the opposite impression than they were trying to give.

Also, I can see why little pest wasn't too impressed with her photo in Glamour. The one you posted here a few weeks back was considerably better. The Glamour picture makes her look like Cassandra from Only Fools and Horses.

Of course pedantically by spiralx (2.00 / 0) #6 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 07:36:42 AM EST
That isn't a Googlewhack ;)

Let me get this straight. by random (4.00 / 1) #8 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 08:09:35 AM EST
They cut their hair and made them wear clothes which were not their own? And your two "friends" let them?

What's wrong with reality these days?

Indeed by spiralx (2.00 / 0) #9 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 08:14:41 AM EST
It was either that or walk out, and seeing as I'd said I'd do it to help work out (and for a laugh) I thought we should stay.

As I said, it could've been worse. You should've seen some of the outfits they had...

Why do they do this? by random (4.00 / 2) #10 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 08:30:28 AM EST
I mean, take it a tiny bit further and you can just make up the stories and get a picture of some models from the image library.

Where do you draw the line?

Hehe by spiralx (2.00 / 0) #11 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 08:39:27 AM EST
I guess because we didn't fit in with the "Glamour"ous (heh) image they wanted to portray. Which in reality seems to consist of making people look like carbon copies of Next adverts.

I managed to wear my own trousers rather than the nasty tight jeans they tried to get me to wear - the one time I've been glad of my fat arse lol ;)

And you work for these people? by random (4.00 / 1) #12 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 09:06:37 AM EST
And have a clean conscience?

Advertisers and conformist magazines like this create a lot of fucked up people. Just to make a wodge of cash for people who already have enough cash.

Nope by spiralx (4.00 / 1) #13 Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 09:18:48 AM EST
I work for a company doing financial information. But who also are part of the same group of companies that includes a dating website that wanted publicity in the magazine and asked for people for their article in exchange. So we were asked if we knew anyone like that who'd be willing to it...

You're still propping up the evil capitalist overlords though.

I do that just by working where I am; the article is an extra on top of that ;)
