This was odd: the hail looked like snow.

Where was this? by creo (6.00 / 1) #1 Mon Sep 06, 2004 at 05:37:39 PM EST
We have had similar in Perth once (that I recall). The lawn was white - it looked like snow (well, what I thought was snow, I had not seen any back then), but was actually big balls of hail, and I mean big.

This was about 10 years ago from memory.

Cheers

What did you do with the kangaroos?

I don't care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do.

Oh C'mon by Phage (6.00 / 1) #5 Mon Sep 06, 2004 at 10:56:09 PM EST
I saw that sort of hail at least once a year in the Western Suburbs.
What about that freak hail storm that smashed all those roofs in the Southern Suburbs in 2000 ?

Heh - the one sure sign of Aus. The Hills Hoist and the Fibro garage !

Yeh the western suburbs would get hit by cam (6.00 / 1) #6 Mon Sep 06, 2004 at 11:05:49 PM EST
by bad hail every second year. I can recall it a couple of times, the hail gathering enough to hang around on the ground after the storm.

Was it true Neutral Bay got snow, or was it just smaller hail?

When ? by Phage (6.00 / 1) #7 Mon Sep 06, 2004 at 11:09:40 PM EST
I know that the Northern suburbs often get the half-melted hail that often feels like sleet.

It was all hail. by ta bu shi da yu (6.00 / 1) #10 Tue Sep 07, 2004 at 02:11:07 PM EST
Now snow unfortunately. The only time I've seen snow was when I went to Mittagong, and (obviously) when I went to the snowfields.
