That was most excellent. by yicky yacky (6.00 / 1) #1 Tue Aug 24, 2004 at 11:48:22 PM EST

Although - very slightly disappointed that she chickened out of going for the 5m jump. She had room to spare and jumps in hand etc.

apparently there was no money in it!

Though having said that if she'd cleared 5M at the olympics it probably would have considerrably upped her marketability!

No money. by ambrosen (6.00 / 1) #6 Wed Aug 25, 2004 at 12:08:30 AM EST
But also it could have been because she didn't want to overdo it and end on a low not a high.

The competition was great, though.

Ah c'mon. by yicky yacky (6.00 / 1) #16 Wed Aug 25, 2004 at 01:16:23 AM EST

The 5m barrier is like the four minute mile, the 9m long jump or the 18m triple jump. Bannister and Edwards have gone down in history for breaking two of those. Beamon / Powell / Lewis are legends simply for getting within striking distance of 9m.

She was riding high, and there's no better place to do it than at the limpix. She'll be damn annoyed if Patsy Palmer nails 5m at the next obscure event in Utrecht.

Also - write-in: track and trsyn

or did any one else half expect Feofanova to shout "Ricky" any time the camera panned to her?

Is this SFW? by ti dave (3.00 / 0) #21 Wed Aug 25, 2004 at 08:03:48 AM EST
I suspect it's not.

I don't care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do.
The important question is whether they are in a position to do anything about it. --W.S. Burroughs

ATTENTION - POLL VOTING INFIDELS by TPD (3.00 / 0) #15 Wed Aug 25, 2004 at 01:15:37 AM EST
This poll is now closed.... I went for a run (ok JOG)

12 minutes which I shamefully admit is probably the longest run I've done since school days. Wearing the HR monitor thingy again (I do this as it stops me trying to sprint at the beginning thinking: I'm sure I can keep this up, also it's the only watch thing I have to tell how long I have been going for), average HR 181 top seen 195!

Any votes beyond the 3 I have seen will now be counted towards tomorrow.
