Computer
The "new" computer I bought broke for no reason. It's got a piece of crap Shuttle motherboard which I think is the problem. Basically, the screen saver kicked in and I think it went into sleep mode, but now the monitor won't get a signal from it and it doesn't get on the network after I reboot. I'm going to give those bastards that I bought it from hell. I even tried moving the jumper to reset the damn thing, and it "boots" making all the right hard drive sounds and other things I got used to, but the monitor never gets a signal or anything. Fucking prick Paki computer store. I shouldn't call them Pakis as they are from India, but still they're pricks. I wish I could go bash the owner in the face with the PC, but I don't want to end up in jail so I won't.

Also, I need to find a way to back the hard drive up before I try to return it and threaten to take them to small claims court and all that, because I moved my files to the hard drive and need to get them backed up now.

Work
A coworker left, and now I have the itch to leave too. I'm tired of writing spreadsheets of QA documents to test scripts that I wrote over half a year ago. I'm tired of being in charge of finding out how some other programmer fucked up and changed the system I have to push data into without telling me, while my team lead bitches at me using statistics he invented off the top of his head (e.g. pretending to believe that I said a script would run for 5 hours, when I've never had it run less than 40 in the past.) So, I'm looking. I don't think I can stand six more months of this.

Politics
Kerry and Edwards. They will get my vote. Why? It doesn't matter about them, they're probably more useless than a bag of dicks, but they're better than Bush. Bush is a piece of shit and deserves to be in prison, not ruining this country. I'm also sick of Bush supporters. The left has quite a few idiots, but I've never seen the kind of lunacy that the extreme right is pushing now. The Republicans courting the religious reich make attending a PETA meeting look sensible in comparison. It's ridiculous that the Republicans have allowed themselves to be taken over by the criminally insane. Of course, the Democrats are still a bunch of wusses and will not fight back when the Bush administration screws them. Their part in the ruining of this nation is that they are complicit for sitting around and pretending that they are agreeing to work together, while the Republicans push us back into the freaking inquisition.

By the way, John McCain has made himself into a punk. I never expected him to join up with Kerry like a bunch of dailykos folks had wet dreams about, but the fact that he is sucking up to Bush, who stole the Republican nomination from him in 2000 by playing dirty politics after both had agreed not to is disgusting. Who knows, perhaps McCain really did have a bastard child with a black prostitute like Karl Rove insinuated back in 2000. Either way, he should have simply declined to help anyone and kept to himself.

July 4th
I was not in a mood for jingoism, so the wife and I stayed home on the evening of the 4th instead of going out like we planned. Plus, I had set off my own fireworks which was great fun.

Spiderman 2
Wow, this movie was one of the best ever made in the superhero genre. I know mns will not be impressed by that, other than the numbers, but I liked it. There were definite flaws, but I won't spoil it. Plus I'm too lazy to write about it.

Food
The wife and I tried a new place that supposedly serves mongolian wok type stuff. Well, apparently their wok stuff will be down for a freaking month. It's a new restaurant, but you'd think that they might actually try the damn thing out before they open. I was dissapointed about that, but they did have decent sushi. It's just that it was overpriced and small. I doubt we'll go there again.
