Stuck at home another night
trying to fill the ashtray to the brim
and clear it away again

The week in review.

J and I spent last weekend camped at Harmony Park near Geneva, MN in attendance at The Big Wu Family Reunion. Activities included lounging about, trying to stay dry, and consuming copious controlled substances.

Arrived Friday at about three in the afternoon. The website stated clearly not to show up before three (as they wouldn't open the gates early), so we figured there would be no problem finding a decent spot to pitch our tent. Of course, to our dismay, there were already about 200 cars in the parking lot when we arrived. Fuckers.

Despite this, we managed to find a spot between the lake and road that winds through the campground and up to the stage. It ended up being a very nice spot. We were shielded from the lake wind by the foliage behind us, and we were able to sell our baked goods to passerbys (sic) on the road in front of us. Our cheap Walmart canopy provided shade and some shelter from the torrential downpours that took place all of Friday night.

Will not bore you with details. Music was excellent, especially the MMW show on Friday. Our site was close enough to the stage that we could hear all the acts loud and clear from the comfort of our camping chairs.

Met some great people, and had fun jamming for most of the weekend. Been too long since I've done that.

We returned to SD on Monday and spent thirty bucks doing laundry. Sleeping bags, pillows, and all the clothing we brought required washing to expunge the putrid smell of campfire smoke. Blech.

This week has been spent recuperating. Sleeping and working, with slices of time alloted to eating, and not much else.

No word yet on the job lead with the state. Just shot off an inquiry to my friend there, to see if he has heard anything. Fingers are crossed.

J is going to Tennessee next week to work at the Bonnaroo festival. She got a gig with some friends, working for a contractor that parks cars at these things. It's a pretty good deal, seeing as she gets in for free, food and lodging are free, and she gets paid for the hours that she works parking cars. I am not attending; partly because of responsibilities here (and the fact that I just had a week off to go to Texas, no more vacation hours for a while) and partly because I will enjoy the time apart. I realized last night that we haven't been apart for more than a day in at least a year's time.

In other news, my mother is moving to Fargo in July, so I will be helping with all that business. Woohoo.

Also, I have a pimple on my fucking eye lid. Ain't that some shit?

Later.

Sounds like fun, but I don't know if I would take my kids to a festival (seven year old hates heat and whines at the drop off a guatamalen stash bag).

The Wu is pretty good about putting together family-friendly events. There was a family camping area, stuff for the kids to do, and they checked everyone for glass bottles on entry to avoid casualties :)

There were quite a few kids running around, but I can understand why you wouldn't want to bring a whiny one along.

Cookies, brownies, etc.

They sold like the proverbial hot cakes, and financed our trip.

Holy crap, I have a little pimple on my eyelid, too! I wonder if it's a result of the secret organization thing... MillMan?

You can build the most elegant fountain in the world, but eventually a winged rat will be using it as a drinking bowl.

It is truly a strange happening. Perhaps it is some sort of precursor to our next adventure, ala Harry Potter or Moesha!
