We ask you, the people, to help us decide the date. Which of the two, very exciting weekends will the week of fun surround? What will the major project be? Will there be a special guest? All of these questions and more may be answered inside.

So, Mr. Brown and I have been trying to settle on a date to bring folks here this summer. We figure it will be either the first or second week of July. There are various issues involved as America Day is the first week of July and the Molson Indy is the second week of July; we wouldn't mind either of these weekends being the main event weekend. Which weekend would be easier for people to

A - Weekend of America/Not America Day Fri. July 1- Sun.3

The main fun event would take place on Sat. July 2; there would be fireworks accordingly.

B- Weekend of Molson Indy Fri. July 8- Sun.10

The main event would take place on Sat.July 9; there would be fireworks accordingly.

So, there they are. Vote accordingly.

We appreciate your response.

A Grand Boreal HuSiMeet by CheeseburgerBrown (3.00 / 0) #4 Fri Oct 08, 2004 at 04:36:08 AM EST
More detailed to be posted soon, as certain decisions are finalised.

But, in brief: LittleStar and I will be hosting a HuSiMeet next summer, here at the Gilford Olde Schoolhouse where we live and work. We have indoor room to put up some folks, but others will have to camp in the field (we have about a half-acre). We will have bonfires, alcohol and music. The main event will be the HuSi500, a Go Karting Championship held at our local speedway.

Come one, come all.

Um, outside? by Rogerborg (3.00 / 0) #6 Fri Oct 08, 2004 at 04:55:03 AM EST
With the polar bears and drunken Canucks on snowmobiles driving all over the place?

A Few Points by CheeseburgerBrown (6.00 / 1) #9 Fri Oct 08, 2004 at 05:57:22 AM EST
1) The Polar Bears are scarce in summer. (If you must know, it's on account of this anti-bear pebble I keep in my hand.)

2) Snowmobiles are notoriously slow and loud in summer, so you have a lot of time to duck for cover.

3) How could we call it HuSiStock if it wasn't outside? That's like hippies without the smell.

4) Yeah, like you're going to drag your cheap ass over here from Scotchlandia -- your objections are moot I tell you, moot!

5) We're having bonfires and fireworks and archery and auto-racing. These tend to leave stains, indoors.

6) Rhymes with "sex", sorta.

7) All dogs go to Heavens Brothers Quality Crematorium.

8) You just enjoy being a whippersnapper, don't you? I bet your nannites are drunk.

9) If you come, I'll wear a kilt. (Threat or promise: you decide.)

10) I'm bored of this comment, and I think it's pretty clear I ran out of content several points ago. I quit.

Wait - do you have guns? by Rogerborg (3.00 / 0) #14 Fri Oct 08, 2004 at 07:50:02 AM EST
Or can I buy/rent some if I come over, and slay some innocent beasts?

Or just go bowhunting?

Hmmmmm....

Well, We Have A Gun. by CheeseburgerBrown (6.00 / 1) #15 Fri Oct 08, 2004 at 07:58:32 AM EST
But yes, people do do a fair shake of killing things around here. Mostly in winter, though, to tell you the truth. Yeti and the like, I figure.

LittleStar has a shotgun which is the only firearm currently on the premises. I also have a sort of ray-gun, but it only shoots sparks...and to be frank doing so for any length of time rapidly taxes the index finger.

There will be few if any slayings at HusiStock.

Our elite guard of fascist troops will keep those fucking ruggamuffins in line, don't you worry. A little knock in the chops with the butt end of a rifle is all it takes, most of the time.

If this still seems too risky, maybe we can try to MacGyver up some kind of Popemobile for you. You know, with like a dome and shit. You could smile and wave, like the Queen. You'd be a one-man float.

I rather like the idea of being the pope. I tend to mumble a lot and make that little waving motion with my hands and I usually carry a burning purse around anyways, so it might be the perfect fit for me.

Plus, I'm running low on towels so a sleep-over at some strangers house might be just the ticket to remedy that one small problem.

Warmest regards,

that Southnor Thamerkins will be having Monday July 4th off of work, more than likely, so they'll have an extra day for getting home.

Everyone can get some time off around Canada Day/Independence Day. Isn't in the constitution or something? Thou shalt party hardy 'neath a copy of fireworks, or whatnot?

I am allowed to blow stuff up I vote for the first weekend in July.

Hmm, I wonder if I'm allowed to bring fireworks across the border.

I'd vote for 7/1 - 7/3 but since the chance of me showing up is somewhere between zero and the chance that Osama Bin Laden will win the Nobel Peace Prize, it probably ought not get counted.

I'm not sure if I can do that week, but I know I can't do the following week. My next long cycle trip starts then.

Well, that's maybe kinda like a vote for the earlier weekend. Either way, hopefully you can stop by somewheres on your tour, at some point, sooner or later.

I definitely cannot make the 2d weekend. As it stands right now, in October, I can make the 1st, but it's a long ways away, so I guess what I'm saying is:

My wife gets out and meets other people all the time, so I should be able to do this....

I would vote the second weekend, if for no other reason than the cost of travelling on the holiday weekend.

I'm equally likely to be able to make either of those dates, if I'm wanted. That said, with the Indy taking over part of downtown Vancouver every year, and rich kids who have their offshore rich daddies buying them powerful cars they don't know how to handle, I tend to get my fill of vroom vroom.

Provided my sojourn to mexico has ended by then.

But of course, once Canada defrosts again, I will likely be quite happy to return to it. Especially if there is a husifest waiting for me.
