Diary

... "A Mi Manera" by Gipsy Kings.  Don't get me wrong, I love Frank.  He's one hell of a singer, and had some incredibly great songs.

But this cover is, hands down, the finest cover of any song by anybody.  Wow.  I still can't get over how incredibly well this is performed, and I can only say that I'd love to see it live, if at all possible.

And it helps me forget the pain, too.  That sciatic nerve doesn't seem to ache so badly when that song is playing.  And, no, I'm not shimmying in my chair or anything.  It's probably one of those 'mind over matter' things, or something like that.  Or perhaps I just ignore it for a moment.  Whatever.

Went to a public house this evening to see some of the Sox-Yankers game.  And, of course, to have a few beers.  Nursed them slowly, naturally.  Don't want to have any undue influence on my life at this time.  I feel ever so slightly high, but not bad off, by any stretch of the imagination.  Just a little less inhibited.

Hence the diary, of course.

And, by the way, this is pretty much just for me, not all of you people.  But what better way to keep it.

I polymorphed into a xorn in Nethack a couple of days back, and highly enjoyed travelling through solid rock, until I somehow polymorphed back into a dwarven valkyrie and starved to death in the midst of rock.  I'll bet that will be a fun bones to run upon.

That's all.  Evening, all, and I do honestly hope you all enjoy your night/day.

...that I put in Atari Teenage Riot's "Live At Brixton Academy" right after.  26:47 of pure, complete noise.  I'm not sure how to classify the mood I am in at this particular moment.

I really like Joey Ramone's cover of "What A Wonderful World". It makes me want to drive fast when I'm in the car listening to it, it makes me smile. Whereas the original (still good, of course) reminds me of a weepy 9/11 tribute or a Father/Daughter dance at a wedding.

But have you heard the Pixies cover of Warren Zevon's "Ain't That Pretty At All"? It's neat. It was suggested to me by someone on Soulseek. It's okay, but not my fave.
