Woo hoo!

Today I will be trying to have a hot cheese and bacon sandwich. Good for the heart!

I've fiddled with some perl, re-invented a couple of wheels and implemented the diary hotlist clearing thingy that k5 has got.

I had to re-write it as rusty has decided to keep that part of the scoop code a secret (IE, I couldn't be bothered to email him and ask him for the changes).

I've also fixed the bit where it wouldn't show you the poll title in your comment replies.

All good fun.

Could things get any better?

Forget Sunday. Friday lunchtime is the holiest time of the week. Let us praise the Lord by raising a glass and tasting of good pub grub this lunchtime!!

No pubage for me today.

I did get my hot cheese and bacon sandwich though, so I'm somewhat mollified.

MMmmmm, bacon by Cloaked User (3.00 / 0) #15 Fri Dec 05, 2003 at 07:19:58 AM EST
That's what was missing from my toasted cheese sandwhich (well, that and the essential sandwhich shape - stupid low-fat spread sticks like glue!) - bacon!!!

And mushrooms, come to think of it - mmmmm, bacon, cheese and mushrooms...

Excuse me while I have a Homer moment...

Mmm - creme eggs by gazbo (6.00 / 2) #6 Fri Dec 05, 2003 at 04:50:06 AM EST
Well, it is nearly Easter after all.

And before you ask: bite the top off, lick out a little bit of the creme (ooh-err), carefully bite further to leave the bottom bit small enough to fit in your mouth in one go.

The best way by hulver (6.00 / 1) #7 Fri Dec 05, 2003 at 04:57:17 AM EST
Stuff the whole thing in your gob, and leave it to melt. Try to resist coughing as the concentrated sugar dribbles down into your windpipe.

Finally swallow the half chewed mess while choking and spluttering a fine spray of sweet sugary spittle over your coworkers.

Then go and clean the brown drool off your shirt.

Creme Eggs are not available in Switzerland anywhere, you insensitive clods!

I miss Creme Eggs. I think it's time to hop onto an Easyjet flight to get some...

Is that anything like the way you eat creme eggs?

I just started my workday...and it's really early. I usually get to work between 7:30 and 7:45 in the morning, and it's not much later than that right now here.

Damn fine idea.  It's 9:00am as I read this.  I think I'll go get some margaritas and a burrito.

In re: features, the poll option count uppage is intimidating.

In re: all else, this is the finest damn site I've ever taken part in, you lovely bastard.

Bug? by FlightTest (3.00 / 0) #16 Fri Dec 05, 2003 at 07:43:47 AM EST

Adding this feature seems to have cleared my diary hotlist, without my asking. Is that a necessary evil of adding the code?

I know, I should current on diaries, but um, I had a ceiling fan to install. Yeah, that's it.

No by hulver (3.00 / 0) #17 Fri Dec 05, 2003 at 08:12:51 AM EST
It should not. If it has, them I'm sorry.

Has it cleared everybody off the list, or just the unread diaries?

Unread diaries only by FlightTest (3.00 / 0) #18 Fri Dec 05, 2003 at 09:58:53 AM EST

It just cleared the unread diaries off the list, the list is still there. And diaries that were posted after the code update showed up fine.

Fortunately, my list is short, and I wasn't too far behind. My wife on the other hand, well..... at least I don't think she'll be upset about it.

That's odd by hulver (3.00 / 0) #19 Fri Dec 05, 2003 at 11:13:30 AM EST
It shouldn't have done that at all.

It didn't on all my tests.

Maybe I'm just special. by FlightTest (3.00 / 0) #21 Fri Dec 05, 2003 at 12:20:20 PM EST

Nope, I'm not. Just checked the Mrs.'s account and the only ones on hers are the new ones posted since you made the change. I know she had quite a list.

not cleared exactly by wndl (3.00 / 0) #23 Sun Dec 07, 2003 at 11:22:39 PM EST
My list now shows "1 new" for everyone who has 1 or more unread diaries. If I read the one showing on the list (the most current one), it continues to show "1 new" and lists the title of next newest one. So, I know that there are new diaries, but it means I read them in reverse order.

I'm not actually reading them in reverse order; I'm clicking on the main diary page for anyone who is showing "1 new" and reading them from there, in order.
