Because if there was only one, it would be Hulver's site.

Hope the back gets better, dude... sounds pretty horrible.

Also, what is it with all the UKLK5ers? Enterfornone's flying home to Australia 'cos he's suddenly got epilepsy. Dylan Frogley's in hospital. Hulver's back's given up. It's like the X-files: they're secretly picking us off one by one!

Next episode: sleepyhel finds herself pregnant with a mysterious alien baby...

What is it with Apostraphies?

Hulver.

Hulver's. -> Hulver is.

Hulvers' -> Belongs to Hulver.

Hulvers -> Many Hulvers.

That's my rule, and I'm sticking to it. Where do you get the Hulver's -> Many Hulvers from?

Hulvers site: a site about several hulvers.
Hulver's site: a site belonging to a single hulver.
Hulvers' site: either a site belonging to someone called "hulvers" (in occasional use, though Strunk and White" recommends "hulvers's"), or a site belonging to several hulvers. From your link:
... however, if there are two or more dogs, companies or Joneses in our example, the apostrophe comes after the 's'

My rules by miller (none / 0) #6 Fri Sep 13, 2002 at 12:09:51 PM EST
Hulver

Hulver's -> Hulver is / belonging to Hulver
Hulvers -> More than one Hulver (scary!)
Hulvers's (or Hulvers' cause it sounds better) - Belonging to more than one Hulver

Rules for when things already end in s only get more complicated e.g. sometimes randomly adding es on the end of things

It

It's -> It is (never belonging to it)
Its -> Belonging to it (never more than one it - use "them")
Don't use its'. Use theirs!

I don't know why it behaves differently. Apparently it's something to do with it/its behaving like him/his, but I don't really buy that.

LK5'ers by tombuck (5.00 / 1) #3 Fri Sep 13, 2002 at 02:30:58 AM EST
Missed a couple ;)

I've been fucked over (i.e. wallet, keys, mobile etc.)

SpiralX has been stabbed in the eye with a cigarette I was holding.

I'm sure there must be more, but 't is a worrying sign nonetheless.

I have escaped the horror of the UKLK5er curse ... I have run to Canada.

Unless my time comes in October ...
