Actually work was getting a bit stressful. I was all geared up for the project finishing about now (I have a fixed term contract that ended at about the same time as our original final build date), and what happened? They went and extended it for a year. That upset me a little.
A friend persuaded me to go to a LARP. Not done that before. It was fun running around hitting things with foam weapons. Anyway, I decided it was time for a holiday. Actually I'd decided I'd go for the holiday several months back. Worldcon was in Japan and I felt like a trip to the far east - this time without my parents. I discovered that you really need more than 2 weeks to see Japan properly. Especially if a geek convention takes up 5 of them. I also learned that the ladies love the cat ears:) Maybe I should give in to the furry side. Japan is a great place to visit though. If I go again I'll get a rail pass, whizz down to Nagasaki and then head north spending a couple of nights in each city I visit. Time was a little too short for that but I did see Ito, Tokyo, Yokohama and the Hakone mountains. So, I return to work. Catch up on email. Receive an email about an exit interview. Uhm... okay guys. So you're not extending the contract. Thanks for letting me know. They were kind of apologetic about that but still. They could have written to me.
