Well, my Not Telling My Age birthday was this week, so I was unexpectedly good natured about it. I was teased at work, with my boss teasingly trying to bait me into announcing my age. My coworkers made cookies for me and had a happy hour for me the day after.
And on that very special day, my parents and best friend called and I got to see the BEASTIE BOYS. What a fucking awesome birthday present (to myself). Great vibe, interesting mix of people (apparently the Philly hipsters came out) and all of these die hard Philly music fans were just raving about it. There's something about the Philly music scene I really like - for the preshow there was a DJ with a bunch of breakdancers who were just really cool to watch. The Beastie Boys just put on a fucking awesome live show. I took LG thinking that bringing a 6'4" guy would be a good idea (well, aside from the minor cockblocking), which it was especially avoiding the people doing nitrous in the parking lot. During the concert, I managed to inch closer towards the stage the end and left him behind. Two pits happened to open up on the floor at the end, but I avoided them. However, I was treated to young gnarly tatted females grinding with men they just happened upon in the crowd. At the beginning of the show, while I watched a bunch of teenage boys with glassy eyes about 15-16 years old burst through the crowd, with one leaning over sickly, a guy next to me hugging his gf said "There's alot of guys here without dates." In addition, young people nowadays don't know how to crowdsurf. I am towards my goal of getting out and seeing live music. My next goal is to see the Roots. And the other results of the show: LG now is txting me and is now suggesting things we should do together (I probably will go to see Flogging Molly in September with him just because. Amusingly enough, he said that the crowd he is going with includes two of his exes. There is a part of me that would just want to see just who he has dated.). Oh, and few people at work were surprised that I would be into "that" kind of music so I've gotten the "if you're going to see anyone else let us know, we'll go" invite. I am amused. Boys...hmmm...the southern lawyer dude is still emailing me at least once a day, but due to my recent reading, I'm not going to chase after him. He knows how to reach me, and if he chooses to be flitty, then that's his loss. Philly Guy, for lack of a better name, is, well, it's sorta getting interesting although I'm not sure where he is going with all of this. First off, he took off his profile off of the site. He said he was going to do this, but he's pretty much the first guy who has done it before me. I can't help but think he probably got a couple women going on, but hey, I would too. Mine is still up. He's coming up in two weeks - he usually returns to the area monthly, and he said that he'll reserve an evening for me. Which is good. He was hoping to be able to return for real (he's been in NC for three years) in October, but he's now not allowed to hire a replacement, so he doesn't know about his return up here. There may be some other avenue he can pursue, he didn't know. The other thing about him, and what I elicited from him during an IM convo is that, well, that our dads were in the same line of work and in fact, while he's in the private sector, there is a very good chance that he and my dad know the same people due to what he does. After he learned that, he seemed more interested in me. The other thing I can't figure out about him is that he's like "ask me any questions you'd want to know" but he really hadn't asked me anything and said something to the effect of "it's not that I'm not interested". Again, email and IM are fun, but it's been again brief email or IM exchanges once a day and I dunno, I'm bored right now and I'm not interested in chasing someone who doesn't completely dig me. I have some major logistics issues in the next two weeks as LO is done with camp and her Dad is out of town. Here's hoping I can get an evening out to see PhillyGuy and that my parents will be around.
Fantasy football is just around the corner and it looks like I will be in Yes, Rt. 29, rearview mirror day after my birthday, noticed the double bike rack, still stings like a motherfucker...
