Puter problems.

OK, I have two problems today...

First off, though I thought I'd fixed the network at home, and have successfully ssh'd in via dyndns, today it tripped off at about 10:30 AM.

From time to time when we're at home, one or another of the computers on wireless connections can't raise the router. The only thing we've discovered that reliably fixes this is manually cycling the power on both DSL modem and wireless router. So maybe this is the first instance of detecting such a dropout from the outside. Do other folks have problems like this?

Secondly, last night Fray, an intel dual-core iMac box running MacOSX 10.4.something wanted upgrades. So, sure, why not. Then she wanted a reboot, which we gave her. Coming up again, the font in iTunes and in most non-page places (e.g. menus, the URL box, etc) of Firefox were horked. The characters seem to be mostly arrows at various angles and hex digits, all square and boldfacey.

Safari is fine. We haven't checked other applications in any kind of exhaustive way. Suggestions?

Send "get a real computer" comments to /dev/null, kthxbye.

In other news it stopped raining. It's absolutely perfect out there today. Which would be why I'm in here, typing at the computer.
