As you may have gathered from my previous diary, or, if you have been lurking around K5's diary section in the past 6 months or so, I am on a quest to do the impossible.
A database that will make porn searchable in ways before thought impossible. Or if not impossible, then just creepy and pointless. Ok, so mostly just those last two. Anyway, the beta website's progress continues to inch forward. And I'm about at the point that I'll allow a few people to start uploading pictures, pictures which the free users will later have to do manual data entry on. It occurs to me, that people might be more willing to do this data entry, though, if they can be somewhat assured that they'll only see things within their comfort zone. For instance, as a hetero male myself, I have little interest in seeing gay guys. Even if it means a free account, I'm willing to pass that up, if I keep having to do data entry on such pictures. So, I've been thinking that maybe asking the person who uploads to do some -very- quick sorting would be something we could all appreciate. Just what things would you not want to see, if it were up to you? So far, it's pretty clear that there are a few basic categories here. Some will only want to see softcore images, like what Playboy might show (and even this would need to be broken down into male/female). Others don't want to see gay stuff, or lesbian stuff (strange but true, mostly women in my experience). We should probably add bondage into that, or should we? I personally have no problem with seeing a girl tied up, just does nothing for me. And of course, the really nasty stuff that need not be named would get it's own. In the functional sense, these would just be a few checkboxes sitting near the file input form on the webpage. (And flagrant mis-sorting things would be a bannable offense). So, any thoughts?
