July 4th week is when I visit Dad by wiredog (2.00 / 0) #1 Wed Oct 09, 2013 at 10:14:49 AM EST
So is Christmas week.

So as long as Dad is alive, I won't be going to HusiStock.

That you will miss it, but that is a very good reason. Perhaps next time it will work out.

I'll have to renew my passport... by atreides (4.00 / 1) #2 Wed Oct 09, 2013 at 10:25:51 AM EST

my mother has this crazy crack idea about a "family vacation" in Florida, which nobody really wants to do.  We're hoping her plans totally fall through.

If they do, we will be at HuSi stock.  If not, we still might go to HuSi stock.  WOOOOO!!

Also: we learned they have passport cards you can get for kids that only cost ~$16, they're good for Canada and Mexico trips.

We will be close-ish by LoppEar (4.00 / 1) #4 Wed Oct 09, 2013 at 10:54:21 AM EST
likely in the MI UP, so just like 10 hours away... The weekend before is probably distinctly better for us due to other tentative engagements and plans to head west after the 4th, but we might still not be able to make it so understand that the 4th is better for most.

Current summer plans have been modified and confirmed for a near-certain availability in the TO,ON region anytime this proposed week/end.

i'm always creeped out by all this "independence day" celebration anyway, so it'll be good to have an excuse to leave the country.

I would love to. by ambrosen (4.00 / 1) #9 Wed Oct 09, 2013 at 05:07:03 PM EST
But I'm imagining my bank account won't be that keen. I will see how that bears out. And also how it bears out with the 2 other places I owe people visits in 400 miles in either direction. (Montreal and Dayton, obviously.)

Dayton, Ohio? by lm (2.00 / 0) #10 Wed Oct 09, 2013 at 06:14:35 PM EST
If so, I grew up there. I did not know that you knew people there.

At this point, all dates are equally as bad for me by lm (4.00 / 1) #11 Wed Oct 09, 2013 at 06:15:47 PM EST
But this event would certainly be something that I try to make regardless of the badness of the date.

I'm open to other dates as well.  if I'm still at my present place of employment, I'll use 8 or 16 of my 120 hours  of time off to head on up.
