y'all is singular, all y'all is plural.

I thought Texans were the only ones to use y'all in the singular.

Though I've heard it from some folks in Louisiana, they're related to a bunch of Texans.

You is the marked plural form. Thee is the singular.

decided the correct spelling is "y'all"

but Southerns pronounce it and spell it ya'll

Which Southerns? by lm (2.00 / 0) #9 Sun Dec 30, 2012 at 09:57:00 PM EST
Nobody that I know from Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, or Tennessee spells it that way.

For example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Y'all_Water_Tower

North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Alabama that spell it that way.

But again I don't give flip about how others spell it. I personally like spelling it

YA'LL.

And it has to do with the fact that I do not pronounce it  Yee All.

In southern illinois it's not y'all it's you'ns.  Usually pronounced yoonz sort of rhyming with book.  And much like texas, you'ns all is plural.

man, i need a beefy taco now.

In Pittsburgh, apparently it's yinz, sometimes spelled that way. And in NJ it's some variation of youse.

I now know what the noise that is usually spelled "lolwhut" sounds like. --Kellnerin

It's "you-uns". But that seems to be a plural.
