I have to look up the Chesty Puller bio.  I just finished reading The Pacific and Chesty definitely plays a big role in it despite not being one of the main characters.  I picked up the mini-series on bluray last night, looking forward to getting into that soon.

With the Old Breed is also very good by georgeha (4.00 / 1) #2 Fri Apr 29, 2011 at 12:10:19 PM EST
and IIRC is one of the source books for The Pacific.

Zinn started a series by lm (4.00 / 1) #4 Fri Apr 29, 2011 at 12:34:52 PM EST
The first in the series is Ray Raphael's A People's History of the American Revolution. IIRC, Raphael is far less ideological and politicized in his treatment, that is to say that he focuses far more on everyday life than Zinn.

I don't know if any of the other titles in the series are any good.

There is no more degenerate kind of state than that in which the richest are supposed to be the best.

somebody reprinted Acquire (at least a game store was selling what looked new). No idea if it was 3M or somebody bought the rights to Avalon Hill.

you can see it at Barnes & Nobles. But, I can still probably get $20 or $30 for it.
