Lake Placid Brewery by miker2 (2.00 / 0) #1 Wed Jun 30, 2010 at 11:49:34 AM EST
Was just up there a few weeks ago and will be back in 3 more.  Had a few pints of their UBU beer, nice and dark, very tasty.  Will have to try the Summer Honey Rye when I go back.

If I were to head east on I-90 by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #2 Wed Jun 30, 2010 at 11:59:47 AM EST
I'd probably stop at FX Matt's before Lake Placid.

Whoa, I one upped an Italian foodie! by georgeha (4.00 / 1) #4 Wed Jun 30, 2010 at 01:16:52 PM EST
The piave is good, a little sweeter than the Pecorino Romano I get, not as tart as asiago.

Anniversary celebrations are more fun without the little rugrats around. Plus, the pediatrician doesn't serve beer.

Good Viet Nam books by wiredog (2.00 / 0) #5 Wed Jun 30, 2010 at 02:42:36 PM EST
Read The Fall of Saigon, and ponder the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Then read A Bright Shining Lie: John Paul Vann and America in Vietnam.

I found a free copy of The Fifties, by Halberstam, left over after a church yard sale. Interesting parallels between Truman and Obama, and the way the right reacted to them.

I do like The Fifties, it's great for when you only have a short time to read something.

Non-leaking AC units don't harm by ammoniacal (2.00 / 0) #7 Wed Jun 30, 2010 at 03:09:48 PM EST
the atmosphere and you're using an approved refrigerant anyway, right?

I delegated the auto AC to the garage by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #8 Wed Jun 30, 2010 at 03:13:46 PM EST
so I have no idea what they used to replace the leaked out fluid.

Then there's the whole extra load on the grid thing, and extra load on the engine, making the Ha family carbon emissions skyrocket.

She's a bit older than the current model by ammoniacal (2.00 / 0) #11 Wed Jun 30, 2010 at 03:39:19 PM EST
but the current model is neither Russian, nor a gymnast, and is getting on my nerves.

Because he got shot in a democratic revolution, the way all commies should.

So what is the difference between Further, RatDog and The Dead?  Seems like, a way to shelter taxes or something?  Or perhaps make royalties for The Grateful Dead.

Further is playing at our venue this summer, already sold out.  Too bad.

RatDog is Bob Weir's band by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #14 Wed Jun 30, 2010 at 07:56:17 PM EST
he was the rhythm guitarist for the Grateful Dead.

Furthur is Bob Weir and Phil Lesh (bassist for the Grateful Dead) and a few others.

The Dead is composed of the surviving long term members of the Grateful Dead, Weir, Lesh, and the drummers Bill Kreutzman and Mickey Hart.

I'd rather see The Dead than Furthur or RatDead, but I fear it wouldn't be the same without Jerry.

You could always go to the lot for Furthur, there's a little bit of a lot scene.

Just seems that like everyone has 3 or 4 side projects these days.
