Ale and HOTTAYS, but no beer. Antibeerist? Anti-anti-beer person? Anyway, WTF.
If cigarette packs are required to have pictures of diseased lungs, college brochures should be required to have photos of grads working at Starbucks.
What gets me by duxup (4.00 / 1) #2 Wed Jun 09, 2010 at 11:15:52 AM EST
Isn't when folks say something they're pretty damn sure they know as a fact and have good reason to believe it is a fact.   They can be forgiven for that.

What gets me is like that dude above.  It outright sounds like he is speculating out of his ###.  Dude should know ... he doesn't know and should shut up.

My problem is properly correcting someone when I have to.  People hear dude talk out of his ### and then believe him because they think he's authoritative or something and start they start telling me what is what and the only way to get their attention (because folks love to believe the first thing they're told) is point blank say "dude is wrong, it is X, not Y".  If they don't buy it.... I let them go #### up on their own.

if you say dude is wrong, and he clearly is wrong, somehow, no matter how you worded it, you're the dick for it. I love those situations.

You have to say it flat out or nobody has a chance to get it... but if you do you risk pissing them off.

Every time I have to say "No" and "You are wrong".

So far it has not posed any problems, but all the DLs are technical in nature.

Folks around me are that way too.  We're all technical and wrong often enough and have to admit it that it isn't some unholy accusation.  Get involved with sales and such... I don't even tell them they're wrong.  I just tag it as political and let someone else do it.

Also, does that apply to offensive and defensive weapons?
Does it include the car park too? Just curious.

I already made the mistake of being honest with the FBI when they took me aside for airport interrogation and asked me if I had anything that could be used as a weapon. I was in fucking boot camp. The US taught me all sorts of ways to kill. I can make a fucking deadly weapon out of a few in-flight magazines, the laminated safety card and a few strips of masking tape.

Not the ideal response if you want to make your scheduled flight. Or keep your job.

EBCDIC has a lot of variants, each one proprietary and language/country-specific. Anyway, pretty much every ASCII character exists in EBCDIC as well, just in a different location.
