Charge for wife? by ambrosen (2.00 / 0) #1 Mon Nov 16, 2009 at 01:59:15 PM EST
€10 for 200 minutes with a 'wife' is quite cheap though. (I honestly thought you were talking about a travelling partner of some sort, and thought it was reasonable to charge for that. Then I got 'wifi')

That'd be pretty good for a short term rental. Comes to 26,280 Euros per year though.

Lovely photos. by ambrosen (4.00 / 1) #4 Mon Nov 16, 2009 at 03:57:05 PM EST
Which all rather makes me think that I should be going back to Athens before too long. After all, one of my best friends does live there.

roads hugging contours, no grid by wiredog (2.00 / 0) #5 Mon Nov 16, 2009 at 04:10:05 PM EST
I don't think Euclid invented the grid until after Athens was built around 3500 years ago.

I see you got roped into the same boat tour by Dewey Wang (2.00 / 0) #6 Mon Nov 16, 2009 at 04:27:10 PM EST
I did a while back...  It's an interesting place, I'd loved to have stayed on Hydra.. it was very nice......

But life always dictates otherwise.

Glad you had fun though!

... getting a new camera. Great pics, even if your marathon upload is the reason I've been spammed with mails from Flickr all day.

My wife and I once bought a cheap last-minute trip for a week on Santorini in an unspecified hotel, which turned out to be on Naxos. After having seen what little interestingness there was to be had in the Chora we decided to jump on the next catamaran to Athens, where we spent two nights before coming back. This being our first and so far last charter tour, we hadn't thought to inform anybody where we were going, so when we got back the tour guides were busy trying to find out where to get us reported missing. As far as we were concerned we had just bought a cheap plane ticket and a cheap hotel, not the ouzo parties at night.

The Acropolis was firmly wrapped up in plastic and scaffolding on that occasion; it seems to have come out well now. Need to go back and have a proper look.

The cats don't look especially well cared for. by muchagecko (2.00 / 0) #10 Tue Nov 17, 2009 at 07:59:55 PM EST
They're kinda mangey. You'd think they'd take better care of what makes the island famous.
