Come on, step is a subset of aerobics by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #3 Fri Nov 13, 2009 at 10:38:13 AM EST
and pilates is just a rip off, rebranding and IP theft of yoga.

There are only so many options by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #17 Fri Nov 13, 2009 at 01:50:59 PM EST
I imagine I could fill them all with aerobics derived ones:

hi impact
low  impact
step
cardio
hi lo
dance
cardio box

etc, so I thought to limit each choice to a widely encompassing one.

MMA == very popular with the 15-40 male (usually white) demographic.

MMA is "tougher" than kickboxing.

In the US, kick boxing tends to be an aerobics class attended by 40 year old moms trying to lose pudge, not actual fighting.

So reading between the lines, I'm calling you a wussy girlie man for bringing up kickboxing instead of MMA.

How are you enjoying the first few frosts of the year?

there! Anything younger is losing it's appeal.

For me, it was a place in Angola, maybe it's been renamed to Angola Rollercade, I don't know what it was called in the 70's.

I'm hoping the hard frosts will fix my allergies, it's also giving me impetus to finish my storm window.

are the roller blades by sasquatchan (2.00 / 0) #11 Fri Nov 13, 2009 at 01:01:28 PM EST
rockered, and/or are the middle two wheels a different size than the front/back wheen ?

Nope, they're just made for going straight by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #12 Fri Nov 13, 2009 at 01:15:00 PM EST
and not very acrobatic at all.

Mrs. Ha had a pair with the ends adjustable, they had little insets in the axle hole, one way they were all in a line, the other they were up.

I could put my old worn down wheels in the front and back positions.

[ Parent ]
rockering isn't by sasquatchan (2.00 / 0) #13 Fri Nov 13, 2009 at 01:18:57 PM EST
(to my knowledge) for acrobats/grinding style, rather for better skating.. Doing so puts less wheel surface on the ground, so less drag, thus you go faster and are more agile.. I go for the full rocker as to me (though that link doesn't agree) that mimics ice skating better.

[ Parent ]
that link says it's for better turning by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #14 Fri Nov 13, 2009 at 01:25:55 PM EST
The curve of an ice skate blade makes it possible for an ice skater to turn tighter. A curved wheelbase or wheel rockering makes tighter turns and footwork possible for inline skaters.

full rocker simulates the curve of an ice blade and is used by inline figure skaters, freestyle slalom skaters and artistic inline skaters tend to use this setup. This rocker setup allows one or two wheels to contact the skating surface at a time.

Which is what I meant by acrobatic, not so much the grinding down rails, but tight turns, rotating in a circle, etc.

I come down squarely on the `it is' side of the fence.

But I'll certainly concede that it probably lies outside of your definition of exercise.
