The lychee tree, which gives us the Fruit of the Gods.

Irises by Vulch (4.00 / 1) #3 Fri Jun 26, 2009 at 10:50:49 AM EST
Dig them up, chop the leaves at an angle so they're 4"-6" long, replant in a sunny spot with the rhizomes half above the soil level. They don't flower if the rhizomes are completely buried or don't get a good bake in the sun.

Sunny spot, might be tough by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #4 Fri Jun 26, 2009 at 10:54:18 AM EST
due to the house, we don't have a lot of spaces that get full sun all day long.

Well, where they are now... by Vulch (2.00 / 0) #7 Fri Jun 26, 2009 at 11:25:25 AM EST
They need somewhere a bit sunnier than that. If they've been round the dead tree, the extra sun they got from it being leafless probably tilted the balance to egtting them to flower this year

Mine get direct sun through the afternoon and do OK.

Though the Teacups may seem like a baby ride, they get you, in the end. Unless you're a little kid, who somehow seem strangely immune.

Has there been a bad Pixar movie? by ObviousTroll (2.00 / 0) #9 Fri Jun 26, 2009 at 12:02:49 PM EST
I saw some guy trying to make the claim that not only has Pixar never released a bomb, the combined take of their movies beats every other blockbuster series by orders of magnitude. (i.e., "5x as much as the 6 star wars movies, 10x as much as the Lord of the Rings trilogy", et cetera)

His math was ludicrous but his point was dead on - Jobs turned Pixar into the Apple of the movie industry.

but if you want it in constant, inflation adjusted dollars, that's a bit outta my league..

IMDB carries the numbers for most (not all) films.. Can see that:

toy story picked up $191,773,049 in just the US for box office, and another $103,200,000 in rentals.

toy story 2 did $245,823,397 US box office, no rental numbers..

monsters inc $255,870,172 US box office..

SW TPM made: $431,065,444 box office (US only) $403,100,000 rentals (world wide)

SW RotS made $380,262,555  US box office, but no rental values. .

Based on those samples, seems Star Wars did MUCH better.. Now, if you count all of pixars, sure it might go over SW.. but ... 10 movies vs 6..
