Montgomeryy came up in class last week by lm (2.00 / 0) #1 Fri May 01, 2009 at 09:45:44 AM EST
A history of WWI that included a bit about the relationship between Monty, Bradley and Eisenhower as an example of eidetic variation.

eidetic variation is a pretty simple one by lm (4.00 / 1) #7 Fri May 01, 2009 at 10:21:51 AM EST
You imagine something in your head. Then you change something about the image in your head. Is that something still the same kind of something? If so, the thing you changed isn't part of what makes that thing the kind of thing it is. This can lead to an understanding of attributes are necessary for an object to have in order to be that kind of object.

For example, imagine a square. Now imagine that square without a fourth side. It's no longer a square so having that fourth side is part of what makes a square a square.

Wells by ad hoc (4.00 / 1) #4 Fri May 01, 2009 at 09:58:20 AM EST
Maybe we could talk the Boston area Husi people to Downeaster up to Wells for a beer?

I'd like that by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #6 Fri May 01, 2009 at 10:13:52 AM EST
but I'd have to sell the family on it, or at least my absence for the evening.

Schedule by ad hoc (2.00 / 0) #8 Fri May 01, 2009 at 10:29:31 AM EST
The current schedule says the last train back leaves at about 8:30, so it would probably be more of an afternoon thing. But the schedule sometimes changes once it gets warm.

Maybe everyone could go to one of the lobstah shacks for beer and crustaceans.

bike trouble by garlic (2.00 / 0) #12 Sun May 03, 2009 at 11:40:10 AM EST
this has been the first year in a while that after winter storage my bike started up fine. The dry rotted rear tire means it's still not road ready though.

you got a lot on your plate by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #13 Mon May 04, 2009 at 09:34:12 AM EST
with your class and all.

I tried to start it yesterday, on a fresh charge, no luck, and then everything died. I'm going to need hours with a multimeter to find out what wrong.

lack of a garage by garlic (2.00 / 0) #14 Mon May 04, 2009 at 09:40:37 AM EST
is one of my excuses for not working on the bike myself. But mostly, I want to ride it, not work on it. Hopefully it'll be ready to go next weekend.

As a result, you are entitled to crash at his pad.  Hell, hulver would let you crash at his pad, no?  You can crash at my pad* should you like.  As long as you have met somebody, according to internet regulations, you may crash at their place.

*this is not an actual offer.
