It's gotta be one of the hardest things. by muchagecko (4.00 / 1) #1 Wed Aug 27, 2008 at 08:59:09 AM EST
My grandmother is almost 90 and still lives on her own, but probably shouldn't. She's too stubborn to admit she needs help.

I wouldn't be too sure that your neighbor is going to give up easily.

own, and definitely shouldn't have (I didn't know her, this is from my mom). She swore to my mom that she wouldn't do that. She also lost her mind well before they wheeled her body out of her house.

I've told my mom that putting her in a home isn't something I worry about, but how to deal with her living at home is.

Family is important by theboz (4.00 / 1) #2 Wed Aug 27, 2008 at 09:07:51 AM EST
If you come into the world with family that loves you, and you leave the world with family that loves you, I would say that your life is a success.  My grandmother, for example, is about 80 now and fortunately she was able to move into my single aunt's house, so both have company and can hang out.

/Live happily, and try to regret nothing.  I must enjoy all the time I am given.  To let the fear eat me up inside will waste this brief consciousness I have. /

I have been thinking along these lines for a while - nice to see I am not alone in this.
