I genuinely did get it for the internet access (phone as modem/TA). But I'm a big fan of mobile internet.

GPS navigation on a cell phone by theboz (2.00 / 0) #3 Fri Jul 11, 2008 at 06:28:09 AM EST
If you just need it to be kind of generic and not as accurate as GPS as to your current location, you should download Google Maps onto your cellphone.  For phones they have a slightly different version, and it somehow triangulates where you are based on your proximity to nearby towers, and can give you an ok sense of where you currently are.  In addition, it uses the internet to get directions to places that you want to search for, as well as contact numbers and such.  It's pretty cool and completely free.  It's my most-used app that didn't come pre-installed on my phone.

So you can tell where she is at all times.

Also, if you can remotely control the camera funtionality, and input speaker, that would be good too.

cell phone is that it be an iPhone. Pay me money!

This morning, on my bus ride to work, I saw a long-ass line of people at an AT&T store, and couldn't help but smile at all the body armor, guns, and tactical gear those nerds will be buying me.

You can build the most elegant fountain in the world, but eventually a winged rat will be using it as a drinking bowl.

due to the poorly maintained PowerBooks at her school, why would she want to reward such behavior?

Because you blame the problem, not the symptom? by MohammedNiyalSayeed (4.00 / 1) #7 Fri Jul 11, 2008 at 09:53:26 AM EST

The problem is obviously poorly-run state-supported schools. Freedom from (government-run) education! Freedom now!

Fortunately, neither of those manufacturers makes a phone.

My Nokia 1100 has an awesome battery life, and the phone part works, but it's just not acceptable to kids.
