Kant sometimes calls that purposiveness 'teleology,' and other times reserves that for purposiveness with purpose (for purpose is final cause), but that is immaterial right now.

It's the subjective, aesthetic purposiveness, the 'as if' form and formulation (formulatingnesshood) that drives me, and the sense of delight arising from surprise discoveries that then get formulated into a suspended, paradoxical, temporary whole.

But I'm not so worried about the temporary state of my mind; the notion that this is all played out, and that I've had enough, has been pretty consistent over the past years, so I remain comfortable that preparing is the correct thing to do.
