My definition of passive aggression: Alice exploits Bob's commitment to a joint enterprise, by not doing her share, which forces Bob to do extra to save the project.

It is aggressive: Bob is being forced, just as much as if he were beaten.

It is passive: Alice forces by not doing things. If Alice plays dumb, failing at a subtask at which Bob knows she is competent, what can he do? Do it himself, or see the joint enterprise fail?
