Well, duh, of course I do. But you shortchanged me on the whatnot content of this diary, and if you do that again, I'll have to reconsider.

Nice to hear the baby's going well.

Enjoy. But not too much, or else you'd be weird.

What a silly bunt! by ambrosen (4.00 / 1) #16 Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 01:22:44 PM EST
I was thinking you'd provide British Standard whatnot, but of course when I saw you'd done ANSI standard, I felt so stupid.

Feh, baby blog all you want by Gedvondur (4.00 / 2) #3 Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 10:45:41 AM EST
It's okay.  Its a huge deal for you and your wife.  If a few close-minded people quit reading you or bitch, well then fuck'em.  You didn't need them anyway.

It's just a thing that I remember mocking when I was in a position of not even thinking about having children. E.g. ridiculing "teh st00pid breeders"

Cute kid BTW!

Actually it wasn't kool-aid by theboz (4.00 / 1) #8 Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 11:17:30 AM EST
My wife's milkshake brought me to the yard, and I was like, it's better than yours.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment. No college fund is started yet, but that will not take long to get set up.

You always seemed to be a cool person anyway. I'm referencing people who have not been on K5 and HuSi really, but AOL-types instead.

That's okay by iGrrrl (4.00 / 1) #23 Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 06:23:59 PM EST
I remember my reaction to CBBs trimester reports. I was pregnant with my second, and here comes this guy who comes off like the first person to have a baby, ever. I was grumpy in response.

A colleague of mine is close to her due date, and I find myself nostalgic for the feeling of the little tumbly and the incredible smile of the infant. Then I remember diapers and 2:00 AM nursing.

It's all good, even the stuff that doesn't feel good at the time.

Mexico's Deli by theboz (2.00 / 0) #7 Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 11:13:26 AM EST
I found it via a review on the Houston Press. However, be warned that it isn't for most American palates. In fact, I probably would have found it bland and boring a few years ago before my wife introduced me to some of the tastes.

As far as the never meeting up with clock and such, it is a shame, but I know lots has been going on in both of our houses. We have to get together and hang out some time, but with all the baby stuff going on it is a little more difficult. However, now that you are feeling better, and the weather is nice, we should get together. My personal preferences always involve a patio at a restaurant/bar and alcohol, but neither you nor my wife can drink so it may not be as fun.

Also, read your private messages here. I'm just about to send one to you.

2 drinkers and 2 non-drinkers by StackyMcRacky (4.00 / 1) #11 Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 11:47:16 AM EST
evens things out a bit.  it's no fun when you're the only one not drinking.  plus, patio restaurants make it all good.

we'll work on putting something together in the near future.

oh, and clock and i enjoy venturing outside of the standard american palates as much as possible. food is fun!

A restaurant that I like by theboz (2.00 / 0) #14 Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 12:05:57 PM EST
Mary'z is a Lebanese place off of Richmond. I like their food, it's ok, but even more I like their patio. Since it appears to be run by Lebanese Christians, they do serve alcohol in addition to having hookah pipes. The smoke may not be the best for a pregnant person right now so I try to avoid taking my wife there much. The other places that have patios we go to sometimes are the Sam's Boat off of Richmond, as well as El Pueblito, which has the nicest patio I've seen in a restaurant in Houston (but again, merely ok food.)

You are the person who has lived in Houston the longest though, so I'm sure you have good suggestions too.

Patio places by StackyMcRacky (2.00 / 0) #24 Tue Mar 13, 2007 at 04:09:56 AM EST
Sam's boat?  ew.

Barnaby's (both locations) over in the Montrose area have good patios.  The hole-in-the-wall Berryhill over on Westheimer (just east of Kirby) is pretty much all patio.  The Mucky Duck has some pretty good food (or used to - haven't been in a long time), and has a great patio area in the back.  Farrago's in midtown has a patio area in the courtyard that's not too bad (doesn't get a lot of direct sun, so it can be cooler than other places).

There are also a bunch of places in the Woodlands, but that's too far for y'all to go.

i've been reading your stuff since way back at k5. doesn't matter how often you post or whether your stuff is interesting even, i will probably always keep reading it, and just skim the baby stuff unless it's amusing.

i do like reading about good restaurants, not that i have any reason to go to houston anytime this year.

Houston is changing by theboz (2.00 / 0) #13 Mon Mar 12, 2007 at 12:00:26 PM EST

You mentioned The Mens Club before as well, which I didn't find to be as good as Treasures. However, Treasures was raided because many of the girls were apparently providing "extras" to customers. This is no surprise, however, upon seeing the mug shots of some of these girls, I had to question why anyone would want to go there. Take note in particular of a few that appear to have active outbreaks of herpes. Additionally, there was another stripper from Treasures who went home with a guy, then left his house unlocked so her friends could rob him.

So, other than that, we have some decent restaurants. Oh, and alligators.

I know quite a few people who hit Treasures for lunch.

Houston has always had some pretty good food, once you leave the chains.
