On the topic of subjectivity (moving away from the subjunctive for a moment), my most recent concern has been early 18th-century interest in sensitivity and sensibility, and when they talk about the senses and feeling, they really mean the effects of outside stimuli on the nerves (Leibniz saw these outside stimuli as expressions of universal concepts and unity, blah blah blah, that then caused impressions on the body / sense organs) ... not the silly Matrix body-hating-gnosticism that is interested only in the internal system, "electrical impulses carried to the brain" and such. Anyway, that was a digression.
