I'll save the argument.. by Metatone (4.00 / 2) #2 Mon Jun 19, 2006 at 11:46:04 AM EST
over the best goal for another day, once my computer situation is properly sorted out and there is time to go linking to videos...

However, if I don't seem to be jumping on the Argentine bandwagon just yet, it's because I too am awaiting the Holland game. That and the fact that you pointed out the other day... How often does the best team win the World Cup?

Clashing rather spoils the four games a day, it's basically just two...

I should add... by Metatone (4.00 / 2) #3 Mon Jun 19, 2006 at 12:07:05 PM EST
lest I mention it later and people accuse me of shifting the criteria, it is very possible that the Netherlands will not provide the information about Argentina I am seeking.

  1. It is the final group game and both have already qualified. To be honest, there isn't that much value in winning the group vs. preserving important players for the knockout rounds. Both teams could end up playing at half-pace.
  2. The Dutch 4-3-3 seems a bit shaky in the middle, I'm not sure they can put the pressure on Riquelme that seems to be the obvious way to throw a spanner in the Argentine machine.

I've got my Argentina away strip on order by nebbish (2.00 / 0) #5 Tue Jun 20, 2006 at 01:01:08 AM EST
But Messi, Crespo or Riquelme on my back? Tough one.

They were ace, although let's face it Serbia's defence was shit. I'm glad I've got some Argentinian mates to watch future matches with. Looking forward to it, and actually stopped giving a shit about England for a minute when I saw *that* goal.

Also pleased I've got the whole thing on tape.

England - Looks like Sven will broadly follow your advice :-) Feeling much more positive, my hope now is that he'll play Gerrard and a holding player in the knock-out stages. It's sad for Lampard, but Gerrard's just the better player. I still think that given the opportunity, Gerrard can save this tournament for England.

No mention of poor, poor France? Daylight robbery. Worst thing is, they're so demoralised they don't seem to care.

It's political correctness gone mad!

But as you say, they are so passionless it's hard to get angry about it.

At the same time, if they tonk Togo by 2 or more they will still go through.

A word to the wise, the knowledgeable will have Tevez on their shirt...
