Look, here's how church should be (true 2nd hand anecdote):

Speaker-For-God: Do you think those work clothes are really appropriate for church?
Wizard-Hobbit Associate: Do you think they would bother Jesus?
Speaker-For-God: Well, I really don't see what that's got to do with it.

and reminds me of my first service in a latin Catholic church, wherein I apparently (I don't remember doing this) asked my grandmother in a whisper
"who's the man in the dress?"
She smacked me, but thought it was hilarious.
