Pointless waste of space in the rulebook.  For the wizard in particular, they are counter-intuitive.  Some are meaningless terms rule-wise (Prestidigitator, Theurgist, Magician), but some have in-game meaning (Evoker, Conjurer, Necromancer).  I'm glad they got rid of those in 3rd Edition.

AD&D 1st Edition somewhere. That marked the point where I started to move from pen/paper games to computers.
