However it is true that the military does grind in loyalty and acceptance of hierarchical authority. Both McCain and Powell fit that bill in some of their dealings with the Executive. If McCain had been President, as Kerry and Clark were both presumptively persuing, that wouldnt be an issue as there is noone higher than the President in the US.

I dont see any other way to explain Powell's UN speech and McCains campaigning for Bush. "Because Bush asked" isnt a good enough answer for me. Powell lied to the world on flimsy and downright bullshit evidence. McCain is shilling for an immoral, flawed and incompetent President.

Who, if any, will make a stand?

but it's certainly not the Democratic Party.

If you're going to be angry with anyone, you should focus your attention upon the DNC, for fielding a bunch of pathetic idiots.

I don't care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do.

It is the Bush Administration that is acting on the beleif that their power is absolute, that their privilege is absolute and that they do not have to follow the Constitution, Bill of Rights or even basic morals of human decency. There is no difference here to despotism and tyranny.

Congress and the Judicial have both failed to keep the Executive's power in check. The judicial in particular should have stamped down many of the bullshit decisions like the denial of habeous corpus already.

It is pathetic. So much for a Madisonian Republic.
